Former NFL QB turned creator, Kurt Benkert, turned down an NFL contract to start a football company - The Dime Lab. In less than 2 year has the business is tracking towards a $100 million valuation. It's hardly discussed, but this is up there with the most successful creator led business of the decade Better yet, he and his business partner are completely bootstrapped. Each owns 50% of the company

It’s not hyperbole to say that Jalen Duren is making the biggest bet of any player in NBA history Detroit offered him a 5 year $200 million contract, but he's holding out and requesting the max of $287 million over 5 years Instead of signing, Duren is opting to play it out on a 1 year $9.6 million deal and hit free agency in the summer Of course, he's risking injury or poor play, but there's another problem The NBA has rules that afford teams the ability to offer their own players more money This means that come free agency, the max deal that Duren could sign with another franchise is 4 years $190 million In other words, that is $10 million less than he’s currently offered right now

The USMNT will be stuck at the World Cup until it adopts Germany's blueprint In 2000 Germany finished last at the Euros and decided it was time overhaul the system. They built 390 regional training bases to make sure one was within 25 km of every kid in country. They hired 1,200 full-time coaches, invested €48 million per year and mandated that every pro club build a certified youth academy or lose its license The cost to families was $0 and 14 years later, 21 of the 23 players who won the World Cup came directly from the system

This is exactly why you don't force kids into sports. Alysa Liu's entire life was dedicated to skating. Not by choice, but because her father demanded it. She won the US Championship at 13, but announced her retirement at 16. She threw her skates in the closet and decided to experience the world. She hiked to Everest base camp, got her driver's license and studied at UCLA. After a ski trip in 2024, she had the itch to lace them up again and nailed a double axel. She announced her comeback, but only on her terms. She wouldn't allow her father (or anyone) to tell her what to eat, when to train or how to dress. The result was athletic and creative liberation. Despite the hiatus, Alysa entered Milan as the favorite to win gold and delivered on the hype.

Alex Eala will soon be the highest paid woman in sports. It doesn't matter that she's not a Grand Slam winner or top 10 player just yet. All of the energy and passion that Filipinos used to drive towards Manny Pacquiao is now directed at Eala. When you activate a nation of 120 million people, the cash isn't far behind

It's not by accident that Norway has become by far the most dominant sporting nation per capita ◼️No scorekeeping until 13 ◼️No travel tournaments or youth national titles ◼️Athletes are encouraged to play multiple sports ◼️$400 million of yearly sports gambling profit is directly back into youth sports programs

The Caitlin Clark story is deeper and stranger than anyone is reporting. After piecing together the full timeline, the picture becomes clear. What's unfolding is absolutely a conspiracy...hence the title of my video essay: The Truth Behind The Caitlin Clark Conspiracy

The real legacy of this Seahawks Super Bowl is not Sam Darnold's career comeback, it's John Schneider's masterclass - Traded Russell Wilson when he was viewed as a top 5 QB & nailed the picks (Devon Witherspoon, Charles Cross) - Canned the HOF coach who won him a SB and hired a 36 year old Defensive HC (youngest in the league) - Traded Geno Smith and DK Metcalf to sign Sam Darnold & pave the way for JSN to emerge as OPOY - Hit on FA's Demarcus Lawerence & Cooper Kupp - Nailed trades for Ernest, Jones, Leonard Williams and Rasheed Shaheed

Brazil's 24 year World Cup drought is due to a cultural collapse. The street pitches where Pelé and Ronaldo learned the game have been paved over for real estate...and it’s no longer free - 80% of youth academies now require cash Today Brazil has more cell phones than people and a third of kids ages 5 to 19 are overweight. You can’t replace things like the futsal courts with screens and expect to stay on top The results are already showing at the lower level. Last year Brazil's U 20’s were eliminated from the U 20 World Cup in the group stage for the first time ever Until this changes and Brazil recaptures their identity, the drought is not going to end

As the years pass, Connor Hellebuyck is the name that needs to be kept alive Jack Hughes has billion dollar photo, while Conor McDavid walked away the MVP The truth is, the gold medal game would've been a blowout if Hellebuyck didn't shed his demons Nobody needed this more than him Despite being the back to back Vezina winner, his reputation for shrinking in big games loomed large over the final He was yanked 3 times last playoffs vs St. Louis and has allowed at least 4 goals in 10 of his last 14 playoff games Everything was put to rest in Milan He finished with the best save percentage in the tournament and a perfect 5-0 record The real MVP was the man between the pipes who shed his reputation and lifted America to our 1st gold in 46 years

The Warriors should be viewed as a cautionary tale for every NBA front office. They got greedy after winning the 2022 title. They tried to rebuild while simultaneously contending and they got burned. I lay out the 4 key mistakes that officially slammed the door shut on Golden State competing in the Steph Curry era.
