Nasra Ahmed, 23, was walking through the parking lot of her aunt’s St. Paul apartment complex when she found herself surrounded by a dozen agents. Ahmed, born in the USA, says she showed them her I.D. She was forcefully detained and jailed anyway for more than two days.

NOT JUST FOR HIPSTERS: You don't need gas or insurance to drive these cars. “This is a workforce solution. … It allows someone to use a car while they’re saving up to buy a car.” They just added 45 Chevy Equinoxes. Bulk of fleet is Chevy Bolt. Feds canceled the grant for an East Side expansion — but “where there’s a will there’s a way.”

Volunteers leave Narcan in a tree at the Pig’s Eye Park encampment, which has grown from 30 to 120 members over the past 2 1/2 years as the city has closed other sites. But if this one closes Aug. 5 as scheduled, will residents find permanent shelter, or simply flood downtown and the Midway?

St. Paul Public Schools will soon offer optional online learning at all 69 schools district-wide. That’s different than what happened Monday when they offered student transfers to SPPSOnline, their virtual school. HAIL TO THE CHIEF: Pioneer Press editor-in-chief Mike Burbach isn’t retiring — not exactly — but he’s stepping down as top editor to pursue special projects at the paper. He’s been fighting the good fight at the “Dispatch” just one year less than I have, which suffice it to say is measured in decades…Pioneer Press, 176 years young!

The city’s hot mix plant isn’t open yet — it’s too cold — but there is now a way for St. Paul Public Works to fill potholes with durable hot asphalt in the winter. Crush some asphalt debris, drop it in a heated truck and truck it to your street. I saw it unfold it person. I am forever changed…That’s Mayor Her sweeping hot asphalt over a pothole…Here’s the moment I found out the Bagela was #deepdiscount

Uptown Porch Fest drew 65 porch bands, a kiddie bounce house area by The Bridge/Starbucks/synagogue at 24th and Hennepin, and kiddie pool is surrounded by food trucks at Mueller Park (halfway ‘tween Hennepin and Lyndale). We should do a mini one in Hamline-Midway…
