Look at this hand gestures at 00:13 when he's talking about 'dimagi naxals'. He is gesturally indicating to the audience that these people who he terms as 'dimagi naxals' are akin to the insects coming out of the wood work. He also suggests in his speech that they're like a disease. All of this is an attempt to dehumanise dissenters in India, and if he's able to do that successfully, then using state violence becomes easy, because you're only stamping out 'insects'. The minorities in India have already gone through that process of dehumanisation over the past decade and a half through industrialised disinformation and hate speech. However, it is starting to feel that this strategy may not be working anymore. He thinks that he's saying something very profound, but I feel that at least a part of the younger generation sees through his machinations. Time will tell, whether this country will close their eyes to more state violence or will resist it. With the levels of anger and dissatisfaction with this Government increasing every day, the only way to maintain power is to curb dissent.

I am able to use ocrmypdf ( to add a text layer to the BIHAR SIR files that have been converted by ECI from digital to unreadable-by-machine in the age of digital. This solution can be run free of cost on your computer, takes a while to convert if you have an old computer, but it allows decent amount of searching. The command I used was: parallel --tag -j 2 ocrmypdf -l hin+eng --optimize 3 --deskew --rotate-pages --clean '{}' 'output/{}' ::: *.pdf You'll have to install both english and hindi language files for tesseract.

Food 'bloggers' have flooded our timelines. There are many Kolkata based food 'bloggers' on mine. Every new or old restaurant they go to, they always love the food. There isn’t a single restaurant they seem to dislike. Recently, a 'blogger' went to a new restaurant that has opened near my place in Kolkata. I know the food there largely sucks, but this particular food 'blogger' went raving about it. The culture of blogging began as a critique of the mainstream, not as a PR exercise, so it is a shame that these content creators are being referred to as bloggers. Indian mainstream media is like that, only much worse. The food bloggers are at worst guilty of exaggerating how good a plate of momos is. The mainstream media will claim that a plate of veg momos is far superior to chili garlic prawns, and that those who prefer chili garlic prawns are enemies of Chinese cuisine. They will insist that veg momos were the original, the authentic, the true essence of Chinese food, and by the end of it, you will almost believe them, and start hating everyone who prefers chili garlic prawns.

Please don't vote for BJP. Their politics is about making one citizen hate another citizen, one human fear another human. Please don't vote for BJP because this man's anguish is real, this man's helplessness is real, and that many in this country already think that he deserves the pain that he's feeling. There are many reasons not to vote for BJP, including their crony capitalism, their washing machine, electoral bonds, etc, but the foremost reason not to vote for them is because their politics is making us a country that is devoid of love and empathy for a fellow being.

Please don't vote for BJP. Their politics is about making one citizen hate another citizen, one human fear another human. Please don't vote for BJP because this man's anguish is real, this man's helplessness is real, and that many in this country already think that he deserves the pain that he's feeling.
