I spent Sunday evening with His Excellency, Peter Obi and other NDC Lagos Candidates hosted by the incredible members of the Obidient Movement Lagos. One thing is clear: We share one mission: to build a country and city that work for the people who live here every day. I remain grateful for the vision and leadership of our presidential candidate. I appreciate all those who show up with conviction and all those who worked behind the scenes to make the evening possible. The work continues and together, we move. FD Ó ti yá.

Targeting and covering opposition posters in broad daylight. If this is what democracy looks like, then we as the electorate need to wake up and see what's happening clearly. An incumbent government that has to work so hard to hide its opponents' posters is telling us about how confident it really is in its own record. Because when you have built something to stand on, you don't need to tear down what others are building. You let the ideas compete. You let the people decide. But if you're covering your opponents posters in broad daylight, you've already told the people everything they need to know. FD Ó ti yá.

I want to say a big thank you to the organizers of The Platform Nigeria's Gen Z town hall yesterday. I also thank the young lagosians who sacrificed their public holiday to be there and the candidates who came and showed respect to our young Lagosians, the lifeblood of this city. As I told the young people in the hall: you are the biggest part of Lagos today. You are Lagos and Lagos is you. Every society is built on a social contract that should be sacred. The people work, contribute to society, pay taxes and are law-abiding, and government, on its part acts for the good of everyone. The question is: if a government does not keep its side of the bargain, what are you willing to do about it? Positive change is possible, but it starts with you. As you evaluate alternatives, you should interrogate ideas and consider the capacity and courage of candidates to deliver. Examine track records. What have they done before? At what scale? Who can vouch for them? Then come out for what you believe in. Next week, we will release details of our manifesto: specifics that we commit to deliver, how we will deliver it, and a scorecard to hold us accountable. Sign up at to see it, and to volunteer and canvass. If every one of you brings five people, we will change Lagos. As we travel across the state, our message is simple: it's time for a new way for Lagos. Ó ti yá; ọ̀nà tuntun yá. FD

We talk about roads, power, water, housing, education, health, transportation and the cost of living because they affect our quality of life. But Lagos doesn’t change just because our complaints are loud; it changes because we’re involved. Your PVC isn't just a card, it’s your seat at the table. It’s the way to ensure the future of Lagos isn't decided without you. Phase 3 of the Voter Registration started 4th of May, 2026 and it's still ongoing. Don't just watch the future happen. Participate. Decide. Create it.

It was a profound privilege to engage with the leadership and dedicated members of our great NDC family in Alimosho LGA; ward chairmen and secretaries, youth leaders, women leaders, and our committed LGA executives. I shared a bit of my journey, the experiences that have shaped me, and the conviction that led me to answer the call of public service. More importantly, I laid out my vision for a Lagos that truly works for all: a Lagos anchored in competence, accountability, and genuine, people-centered service. I am deeply grateful for the warmth, the enthusiasm, and the openness with which I was received. The thoughtful questions, the honest conversations, and the opportunity to listen to the concerns and aspirations of the people who are the lifeblood of this great state. The Lagos we want will not be built by one person. It will be built through partnership; with the communities, the leaders, and every resident who is invested in the service of our people. Thank you, Alimosho, for welcoming me, for receiving me with open arms. Together, and only together, we will build the Lagos that we know is possible. A Lagos that works for all of us. FD. Ó TI YÁ.

I believe that if you want to govern a place, you must first identify with it, understand its roots, its journey, and the experiences of its people. I am a Lagosian, born and raised here, shaped by this city, its people, its history. So, for me, this connection creates not just a sense of ownership, but a sense of responsibility for improving the community I seek to serve and the lives of the people who live here After 30 years in the private sector, I made the decision to move into public service because I believe my experience, my understanding of Lagos, and my commitment can be devoted to builing a better Lagos, one where opportunity, dignity and a good quality of life are not reserved for a few. Lagos can and should work for us all. Not for the few. Not for the privileged. But for all of us. Ó ti yá. #NDC

Yesterday, with all sense of humility, a profound belief in the people of Lagos and an unshakable commitment to work for their welfare and prosperity, I declared my intention to contest the Governorship of Lagos on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in 2027.

I had the opportunity to share part of my vision for Lagos on _Your View!_ After decades managing billions in the private sector, I know that real power isn’t in boardrooms—it’s serving people in communities where they live. Lagos families deserve good Education, Healthcare, Transport, Housing, Water, and Power. My plan will deliver: Free transport for every child in school uniform. Free healthcare + drugs for young children and their mothers. Not in 4 years—in 12 months. Afterall, a one-year-old with a fever can’t wait. It is time to make Lagos work for all of us Click to watch the full interview: #ItIsTime #OTiYa

Our TIGER agenda is a commitment to delivering prosperity and dignity of life to Lagosians. In the first 100 days, we’ll lay the framework towards a living wage for civil servants, begin transparency in government projects & enforce law and order among other priorities.

What is most lacking in governance is character. Lagos deserves a principal not an agent as it's leader. #WeCanBeMore #FunsoDoherty2023

The conversation is no longer about how hard Lagos works. It's now about who Lagos is working for. For too long, the system has worked only for a few. But Lagos should work for all of us. Not just the connected. Not just the lucky. Not just the powerful. ALL of us. I'm Funso Doherty. And I'm ready to work with you to create a Lagos that works for everyone. #OTiYa #ItIsTime #FunsoDoherty #LagosDecides

If the problem appears to be everywhere, then it's a system problem. This isn't about APC vs ADC or PDP. It is about democracy surviving. And that's what matters most: there must be a choice. A monopoly in business destroys markets. A monopoly in politics destroys people and nations. So this isn't just about names on the ballot. Lagos deserves a real choice. Opposition must unite, because united we stand, divided we fall.

What our newly-elected leadership bravely confronted at our party Secretariat today is a disturbing escalation of a familiar pattern. This is not just about PDP. It is an existential assault on multi-party democracy that we and other well-meaning Nigerians will vigorously resist.
