Multiple Liverpool concept designs, the mythical story of a rejected black Arsenal kit, Rangers ambitious tartan kit, and the explosion of replica culture This is football kit history GOLD👇 📺 This is from BBC2's "Standing Room Only" (Sept 27, 1993) - giving unprecedented access to adidas and their design process at the dawn of the replica boom. What you will see see has been hidden for over 30 years... 🔴 LIVERPOOL: Multiple bold designs for 93/94 that the club rejected ⚫️🟡 ARSENAL: The story of the black prototype that George Graham famously HATED 🔵⚪️ RANGERS: An incredible tartan-inspired away kit concept 👕 Plus adidas explaining their revolutionary aertex fabric innovations The hunt for this footage has been YEARS in the making... I searched BBC archives, BFI collections, even contacted adidas Germany directly. Dead ends everywhere. I'd almost given up hope... Then breakthrough came when Jason Sproule shared his memories of the Rangers kit's appearance with me. I mocked this up and shared it with my community. Then the hero Marco Vidoretti 🙌 stepped up. He saw my tweets about the search and remembered he had VHS recordings from 1993. He'd digitised it and BOOM - there it was. YEARS of mystery solved in one moment. I actually found it! 😅 What makes this so special: seeing adidas executives and designers explaining their process, showing rejected concepts, discussing fabric innovations that would shape football.
