CS2 × Deadlock × Valve (news, findings and leaks). Everything about a weird (in a good way) company that couldn't develop Half-Life 3.

The first look at the new Deadlock hero, her animation and abilities - Violet! 🎨 Living Ink - Empower your next 3 bullets to come to life, allowing you to steer them as they travel. The bullets deal increased bullet damage and splash spirit damage in a small area. Each successful hit against a hero reduces all ability cooldowns, and half for all item cooldowns. Draw instead to paint a solid stroke of ink that blocks projectiles and characters from passing through. The stroke can be destroyed with a heavy melee, but deals spirit damage to the attacker. 🎨 Flow State - Drag a brush that continues to travel forward, leaving a trail that grants bonus slide distance for allies and a fading slow and spirit damage to enemies it passes through, increased the further it travels. Re-activate the ability to flick the brush forward, ending the ability early but dealing spirit damage in a larger area. 🎨 Still Life - Choose a hero to be your subject, dealing spirit damage over time as long as you are looking at them. If the sketch is completed they take additional spirit damage, suffer from stun, and drop a sketch that can be picked up. For each collected sketch, you permanently gain stats based on the hero. 🎨 Set Landscape - Create a circular display of ink that blocks vision and grants allies Spirit. Enemies inside are revealed, and leaving causes them to take spirit damage and suffer from Silence and slow, destroying the ink in the process.

The first look at the new Deadlock hero, his animation and abilities - Deadman Danny! 💥Strix Salvo - Launch a salvo of spirit missiles that lodge into the ground along a line. The missiles explode after a delay or upon detecting an enemy, dealing spirit damage and marking the target. Shooting a marked enemy with a charged shot consumes a mark to deal bonus spirit damage and apply a fading slow. Hold and drag to select the angle. 💥Chimera Mk1 - Hold SPACE to fly, building up heat. When max heat is reached, your jetpack begins to overheat. After a short delay you dive to the ground, creating an explosion that deals damage and launches you and nearby enemies. If no hero is hit, you stun yourself. Press 2 to dive early. After overheating, the jetpack cannot be used until it fully cools down. Slows affect you while airborne, and you always explode on death. 💥Jettison Fuel - Spray fuel dealing weapon damage over time and shredding bullet resist, building up to a huge backblast that deals spirit damage and knocks you backwards. Vents the jetpack when dealing damage. 💥Close The Deal - Grab an enemy and give them a hands-on demonstration, flying high into the air before crashing back to the ground. You and the participant take spirit damage over time while falling and spirit damage upon impact. Damage is increased to enemies under 50% health.

The first look at the new Deadlock hero, his abilities and animations - Solomon! Setup Bishop - Create a bishop that remains in place indefinitely. Move it to slide the piece, applying a fading slow and dealing spirit damage to enemies it passes through. After a delay, diagonal squares activate and deal additional spirit damage when stepped on. Re-activate to recall all bishops and end the ability. Kingside Knight - Promote an ally to a knight, granting bonus stamina and a barrier for a duration. Self-cast develops you as king instead, granting double the barrier but no stamina. Move the piece to leap it, making it invulnerable until it lands. Rook Battery - Release a pair of rooks that travel forward, dealing spirit damage and applying immobilize. If a rook hits a wall, it reflects back the opposite way. Re-activate to split the rooks perpendicularly. Develop Queen - Summon a queen that crashes down, dealing spirit damage in an area. After a delay, the queen releases squares in straight lines that deal spirit damage again and stun. Move the queen to leap it to a new location, repeating the impact and square effects. Re-activate to recall the queen early and end the ability. #deadlock

Baba’s abilities and animations in Deadlock: Threadsap - Weave a scraggly thread that follows your crosshair, then bursts along its path, dealing spirit damage and stealing enemy Spirit. The steal is stronger for Baba. While she is holding stolen Spirit, every bullet deals bonus spirit damage. Granny Long Legs - The bench’s legs extend, granting bonus move speed, higher jumps, Debuff Resistance, and Melee Resistance. Light melee becomes a kick that knocks enemies back. Heavy melee becomes a ground pound that deals spirit damage and applies knockup and slow. Hold CTRL to charge a high jump, then release to leap. Baba’s Brew - Brew a pot of tea that cycles between three effects, then throw it to apply the current one in an area. Soothing brew grants a barrier. Silencing brew silences. Scalding brew burns for spirit damage over time and reduces spirit resist. Press the brew key to pause or resume the cycle so you can hold the effect you want. Feed The Birds - Cover targets in front of you with bread, stacking a slow the longer you hold it. When the channel ends, a flock of pigeons bombards the target for spirit damage and hexes them into a pigeon. More bread means more damage and a longer hex. #deadlock

Deadlock is getting 4 new map features: Blessed Apples - pick them up for +22 health regen. The core idea is to force players into more vertical movement. Steam Funnels - step inside for a small health regen bonus and invisibility to anyone outside the steam. Purple Cloud - hide in Fairfax Plaza to safely farm two Haunt camps, Sinner’s Sacrifices, and breakables, but it slowly drains your stamina. Chinatown Bell - climb Chinatown’s tallest building to farm Sinner’s Sacrifices, but. breaking anything will ring the bell, alerting the whole map. #deadlock

An independent AI researcher forced the new GPT-6 Astra to complete Portal. The process burned nearly $600 worth of tokens and took 24 hours, reduced to just two hours with the pause (thinking) removed. The open-source project is available on their Twitter page: cozyblaze

Rat King's abilities and animations in Deadlock: Scrap Grenade - Throw a grenade of scrap that detonates multiple times, dealing bullet damage and applying slow. The grenade can be meleed to knock it away. Rat Swarm - Call forth a swarm of rats that leap onto enemies, dealing spirit damage over time and reducing their bullet resist with every bite. The more rats are attached, the faster they will bite the target. Enemies can have multiple rats attached, but can shake off a rat early by performing a ground or air dash. Royal Pestments - Adorn scrappy armor, gaining barrier based on your max health. As long as the armor holds, bullets have a chance to be deflected back towards the attacker. The barrier does not benefit from resists. Rule, Ratannia! - Summon the banner of Ratannia and charge into battle to claim the area by slamming the banner into the ground, causing an explosive eruption from the sewers. Rat King and nearby ally heroes have increased Movement Speed, are unaffected by slows, and take reduced damage while near the banner. Rat King can slam the banner into the ground to plant it, causing the sewers below to violently erupt, dealing bullet damage while applying knockup and slow to all enemies while they remain in the area. Once planted, rats will swarm out of the sewers, applying Rat Swarm to enemies they hit. And he can also squeeze in the tunnels! #deadlock

First look at the new Deadlock hero - The Doorman His abilities are heavily inspired by Valve's beloved Portal series. He places orange and blue portal doors within a 50-meter range of each other (extendable by an additional 50 meters with a third-level upgrade). Players, projectiles, and physical objects that enter one portal instantly exit through the other. His ultimate ability sends enemies to a hotel in another dimension where they must solve a fast-paced movement puzzle to escape within a limited time. "He's proper, he's polite, but the humble Doorman of The Baroness Hotel is more than meets the eye. A brisk ring of his Call Bell leaves nearby enemies disoriented, and his high-speed Luggage Cart knocks them right off their feet. Do you find yourself getting lost easily in the streets of Manhattan? Don't worry, The Doorman is here to provide a shortcut with his Doorway whenever the need arises. And only the most special of enemies get to experience the trip of a lifetime to The Baroness Hotel. - Please, stay as long as you'd like."
