Today makes it exactly 2 years since I got to Nigeria and got the shock of my life. A childhood schoolmate and friend who I had trusted, and sent home over 300 Million Naira for an Agro Palm Estate Project, was not who I thought he was. 2 years later the dude is yet to reach out and offer an honest apology, and I am here wondering how much more damage others like me who trust people back home to help build our dreams, while we suffer and send money home from the diaspora, have gone through. I had good intentions investing back home. That is why I committed over $2.8M over the past few years to set up several businesses that have all turned out a waste. Looking back now, I regret not investing my money in the country where I live. Recently I came to my senses and realised that taking money from a stable economy like the USA, Canada, or UK to invest it in an unstable economy is the mistake many of us in the African diaspora have been making for years. It has crippled many of us and made it hard to build lasting wealth. But there is a better way. As a Bitcoin guy, about 18 months ago I started moving a significant portion of my crypto profits into stocks. And I now understand why experienced investors talk so much about having a balanced portfolio. I bought my first Bitcoin in 2011 at around $35 and made my first $1 million in 2017. Over the years, I diversified into real estate, stocks and other investments, but Bitcoin remained a major part of my portfolio. Then about 18 months ago, I met someone with far more experience in the stock market. When Bitcoin was around $115,000, he gave me advice that stuck with me: Keep trading crypto, but start moving a significant portion of the profits into stocks. I decided that whenever I made trading profits, I would put roughly 50% of those profits toward building my stock portfolio. I’m glad I listened. Bitcoin later fell below $100,000, while some of the stocks I bought performed strongly. It reinforced an important lesson for me: Making money is one thing. Learning how to diversify and protect what you’ve made is another. I’m still a Bitcoin guy. I still trade crypto. But I no longer believe that being bullish on Bitcoin means most of my wealth has to remain exposed to one asset. Diversification matters. As the first known African to buy Bitcoin since 2011, I have seen it all. I saw $35 go down to $2, I saw $20k go down to $3k. This is the time to DCA into Bitcoin if you have the money and like I have repeatedly said, do not invest your survival Money into crypto!

Sadly, my transport company, ONYE IJE MOTORS, will not launch on November 11, as I had planned. I have 20 Vehicles on the ground but couldn't get a befitting Park in Enugu state to launch. I am currently in talks with some park spaces in Aba Abia State, where I may possibly start soon. Thank you all for always supporting me and my company eastsideventures

As an Early Bitcoin Investor & trader, I’ve lost money several times, so I understand that losses are part of investing. But losing over $2.8 million in some of my businesses back home taught me a different lesson. I thought I was diversifying away from risky assets like crypto and stocks into physical businesses, which I believed were safer. I was wrong. There are few things riskier than investing heavily in businesses you cannot physically be there to monitor. What hurt even more was realizing that some of the people I trusted to help build and manage my vision saw my absence as an opportunity to enrich themselves, like the person who was supposed to help me source the Livestocks And as the businesses struggled, I kept putting in more money trying to save them. Sometimes you have to let a dying horse die instead of losing everything trying to save it. I eventually made myself one promise: Never again will I make a major investment in a business whose day-to-day operations I cannot properly monitor! This is one of the principles I now teach in the Diaspora Wealth Builders Community. If you live in the diaspora, learn to take advantage of the wealth-building opportunities available in the country where you live. Build your financial stability there first. Then, if you eventually return home, you can build businesses where you are physically present to monitor them. And if you must invest back home while living abroad, consider investments that don’t depend heavily on other people managing them for you, like the stock market. Yesterday was unforgettable. Most people don’t know that my brother, Blord_official, and I have been doing business worth millions of USD since 2018. He reminded me yesterday of how, in 2021, we transacted over $5M in BTC while I was in Dubai. I visited his office, met his incredible team, and left truly proud of him. He’s creating jobs for our brothers and sisters across the Southeast, with at least one staff member from every state in Ala Igbo under his payroll. I commend BLORD for inspiring me to also live while i build, and invest in Ala Igbo. Our generation of Ndi Igbo making money online must embrace the responsibility of living and working in our homeland, driving the change we want to see in Ala Igbo. REMEMBERING MY LATE DAD’S FUNERAL AND THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING MONEY Today makes it exactly one year and five days since my late dad was buried. Making your own money is a very good thing. It saves you from unnecessary delays, arguments, traditional expectations, and the complications that often come with depending on people financially. When my dad died last year, I invited his siblings and told them we had to bury him the following week. They disagreed. They said it was too sudden and that they needed time to plan, contribute money, and make arrangements. I told them that if money was the reason for the delay, then I did not want anyone to contribute anything. I asked them to go back, prepare a full list of everything needed for the burial, and bring me the total budget. When they returned with the list, I told them again that none of them should contribute. They should simply tell me who to transfer the money to so preparations could begin the next morning. They were shocked. They asked me to send the money to my uncle, my dad’s younger brother, and I did. I also told them not to buy any meat. I called my big brother and business partner, Charles Ogbu, and said, “Please bring me the biggest male cow at Ohanaeze Farm.” The next morning, he brought the cow, and I handed it over to my uncle. They started discussing how they would kill it, share it, and handle everything else. I simply told them, “Handle it.” Then I went back upstairs to continue mourning my dad. I paid the caterers and told the family not to worry about cooking. On July 18, we buried my dad according to Igbo tradition. Many people who attended the funeral gave me money as the first son after I hosted them in my home. That night, I gathered all the money in bundles and took it to my stepmother’s side of the compound. I asked her to keep it. She shouted and said the money belonged to me as the first son, especially considering everything I had spent. She also explained that people had already given her some money separately. I told her, “No. I do not want it. Please keep everything.” Later, my younger brother told me how some families, especially stepchildren and their father’s wife, sometimes fight over the money received during funerals. That same day, I told everyone that the burial would officially end and the compound would be cleared by 5 p.m. By 4:30 p.m., the cleaners had cleaned everywhere. You could hardly tell that a funeral had taken place there. Today, I remembered the entire experience, and it reminded me again why it is important to have money. Money may not remove the pain of losing someone you love, but it can remove unnecessary stress, delays, arguments, and humiliation during one of the most difficult moments of your life. The video attached was taken the next morning. My uncles brought some of the goat meat from the burial to my house, and we all sat together to eat, laugh, and make merry. Looking back today, I am simply grateful that I was able to give my dad the peaceful and dignified farewell I believed he deserved.
