She found his name. She found the HMO. She offered CCTV. She reported it twice. West Yorkshire Police gave her a reference number. Then they closed the log. No visit. No call. No safeguarding. Condemned. Intimidating. Far-right. A threat. Notting Hill Carnival: two million people. 636 arrests. Knife attacks. Sexual offences. Drugs. Weapons. A man dead after fleeing police into a canal. The response was the opposite. Celebration. Culture. “Largely without incident.” “Overwhelmingly positive.” That is the narrative. If the people look like a problem the media already wants you to fear, disruption becomes an outrage. If the event is protected, crime becomes background noise and death becomes a footnote. They did not report both stories by the same standard. They ranked them. One was framed as danger to the country. One was framed as something you are not allowed to criticise.

Under Section 77 of the FOI Act, deliberately destroying records after a request to prevent disclosure is a criminal offence. Misconduct in public office also exists for serious abuse of trust. Whether this crosses that line is for investigators to decide. But the pattern is clear: stacked process, secrecy, then deleted evidence. A definition they want schools, police and organisations to adopt…and we can’t properly examine how it was made.
