The remains of 105 Palestinians have been recovered from beneath the rubble of buildings destroyed during the war. In October 2023, the Israeli army struck the Al-Taj residential square with 20 U.S. made GBU-31 heavy bombs, each weighing nearly one ton, reducing the entire residential block to rubble and killing more than 500 civilians. Initially, 120 bodies were recovered. With the recent recovery of 101 additional sets of remains, at least 221 bodies have now been recovered, while the remains of dozens of others are still unaccounted for.
