👩‍🚒🚨FIRE UPDATE: Thank you for the messages and displays of support for the hundreds of fire fighters, 5 chopper crews and other crews from SANParks TMNP, VWS Wildfires and NCC currently actively fighting the fire. Please follow instructions of local Officers and Fire crews. As a precautionary measure the City's Disaster Risk Management teams have assisted with the evacuation of around 198 households from the Noordhoek Manor area, including 48 frail care residents. Road closures around the deep south are in place to protect residents. We urge you to stay away from these areas as traffic becomes gridlocked ⚠️ Donations in the form of water, energy drinks and bars, as well as non-perishable items may be dropped off at Lakeside Fire Station 🤍🤲

🚨 I’m concerned there’s been some irresponsible reporting on this: The fact is that the City of Cape Town’s City Manager, Lungelo Mbandazayo, asked the SAPS to investigate this matter, following the City’s own internal investigation. So we support the SAPS action, and in fact our own investigations spurred them to act. Our residents can know that we will always root out any wrongdoing and have a zero tolerance for corruption. ✅ More info:
