We only put up the sign twice a year at the Embassy - but #WeRemember always. If you, too, want to remember throughout the year, follow Auschwitz Memorial for stories, faces and the constant reminder why we say #NeverAgain.

After Yad Vashem, my second visit took me south. I wanted to see where things stand nearly 3 years after Hamas’ terror on October 7. As the rebuilding of the kibbutzim is getting underway, I also learned that dealing with the trauma caused by this horrible pogrom will take time.

Asif Restaurant in Tel Aviv invited me to cook something typically German. I made Königsberger Klopse, soulfood from my grandma’s generation. One guest called it „hardcore Ashkenasi“ (but seemed to like it). Thank you to the fantastic staff at Asif and Shabbat Shalom.

International and Israeli activists, also a German citizen, were violently attacked by extremist settlers in the Westbank while peacefully helping Palestinians in their olive groves. These attacks are well documented criminal behaviour and must be persecuted by all legal means.

Glad that some 100 Germans could take our busses this morning from Tel Aviv to Amman. Our embassy team is making every effort to help with repatriations. Please follow our website/social media; there will be additional possibilities in the coming days.

Kinneret Gat and her daughter Carmel were murdered by Hamas. They live on in the hearts of their family, friends and many others who came together this morning for the opening of the „Kinneret Carmel Trail“. Congratulations, Alon Gat, you worked hard for making this happen.

Flags at the German Embassy at half-mast. Our hearts are heavy with sympathy with the hundreds of men, women and children murdered by terrorists - and the many abducted, for whose safe return we pray.
