Eating cheap 🪙 VS eating healthy 🍏 at Costco 🛒 Logic: To figure out the price per serving, we assigned typical weekly amounts for each pair (16 oz cereal, 16 oz bread, tuna, etc..) and used each Costco price per ounce. *note: prices shown on the video are the total cost per item at the store. Not the cost per serving. Cheap cart: $20.35/ week * 16 oz Honey Nut Cheerios @ $0.20/oz = $3.20 * 16 oz Oroweat Buttermilk bread @ $0.14/oz = $2.24 * 16 oz Kirkland Albacore tuna @ $0.34/oz = $5.44 * 16 oz Libby’s Vienna sausage @ $0.18/oz = $2.90 * 8 oz Kirkland liquid shortening @ $0.056/oz = $0.45 * 8 oz Oreo Stay-Fresh packs @ $0.27/oz = $2.17 * 8 oz Trolli Sour Bites @ $0.34/oz = $2.70 * 2 oz Morton Kosher salt @ $0.064/oz = $0.13 * 2 oz Splenda (~14 packets) @ $0.57/oz = $1.14 Healthy cart: $47.04/ week * 16 oz Lovebird grain-free cereal @ $0.50/oz = $7.99 * 16 oz Essential Baking Artisan Reserve bread @ $0.205/oz = $3.28 * 16 oz Safe Catch tuna @ $0.433/oz = $6.93 * 16 oz Teton Waters 100 % grass-fed sausage @ $0.486/oz = $7.77 * 8 oz Terra Delyssa EVOO @ $0.281/oz = $2.25 * 8 oz Simple Mills Sweet Thins @ $0.82/oz = $6.54 * 8 oz Solely fruit jerky @ $1.33/oz = $10.62 * 2 oz Maldon sea-salt flakes @ $0.39/oz = $0.78 * 2 oz Kirkland organic maple syrup @ $0.44/oz = $0.89 This cheap cart is about 57 % cheaper in this case, though eating clean comes with a cost, it doesn’t have to be twice as much if you’re intentional about your grocery haul. For these items that’s the case, but for example, last time the difference was 28% on a more protein focused cart. Healthy brands: lovebird cereal - tastes better than any other ultra processed cereal AND with real, clean, organic, simple ingredients. They’re doing everything right, glyphosate free, and 3rd party tested for heavy metals. Not all Costco’s have these, if you’re lucky enough get some and let us know what you think. @safecatchfoods - every single tuna is tested for mercury. Terra Delyssa - cold pressed, single source, traceable olive oil. Simple Mills - great clean cookie alternative. Maldon Salt Co. - high quality, flaky sea salt. solelyfruit - just organic fruit. Deliocus, great for toddlers.
