Crazy to think that just 100 years prior, napoleon was conquering countries with muskets, bayonets, and horses. Love how they shot the scene like it's a secret weapon from sci-fi movie like Star Wars, Dune,

German Army Invades - April 9th This movie features surprisingly better details on squad- and platoon-level infantry action scenes (planning, ambush, retreat, regroup etc.) than many Hollywood blockbusters

Honestly getting burned to death by a flamethrower is one of the worst ways to die I have to admit the cinematography is amazing. In this scene, the French are all hidden by the smoke. They don't talk, and appear brutal, ruthless, and effiecent. But when the Germans attack the French trench, it empathizes their faces. They speak, run, and beg, just like the Germans did here. Very simple, but very effective technique.

Fun fact, in real life snipers who are set up inside buildings actually sit far away from the window so they can only be seen from tight and small angles. If you sit close to the window you are easier to spot and shoot.

What I like about this film is how realistic the gun sound but also the stress of the soldiers. You can see how stressed the sergeant is when he's fumbling the STG 44 magazine. This movie is like a seven minute horror video but that's accurate because that's exactly what the war was like for the soldiers

End of War | WW2 H One of the few good short films imo. A lot of these films get the atmosfere wrong, but I think this one nailed it. May 1945 The day that ended the bloodiest war in modern human history in Europe.
