🚨FLASHBACK to when UFC Champion🥇Daniel CORMIER (OSU) faced the GREATEST college wrestler of all time in the NCAA Finals‼️🔥 In 2001 - Cormier, a future World Bronze Medalist🥉, had a great season for the OSU Cowboys, and made the NCAA finals. But he ran into the GOAT - future Olympic Champion🥇and 159-0 4x NCAA Champion🥇Cael SANDERSON (ISU) Cormier gave Sanderson a tough match, but ultimately Sanderson’s All Time Great talent was too much - winning an 8-4 DEC and his 3rd out of 4 NCAA titles. Sanderson went on to become one of the greatest NCAA coaches of all time at Penn State, while Cormier became the rare UFC Double Champion at 205 & Heavyweight 🔥

🚨THROWBACK to when NCAA Champion🥇Bubba JENKINS (ASU) destroyed PSU and buried the beef‼️🪦 In 2011 - PSU was at the beginning of it’s dynasty, and one of Cael Sanderson’s first moves was to quickly replace NCAA All American Bubba Jenkins with golden boy/future Olympic Champion🥇David TAYLOR (PSU) And Jenkins took that personally. He transferred to ASU and met Taylor in an iconic NCAA Final - shocking the wrestling world by PINNING Taylor in the 2nd period.

One of the DIRTIEST matches in World Championship history 🔞😳‼️ Terry BRANDS (USA) 🇺🇸 vs Jesus WILSON (CUB) 🇨🇺 Brands won his 1st of 2 world titles over the Cuban Wilson, who gave us one of the dirtiest performances of all time. He hit Brands with VERY blatant fouls - including grabbing his 🥜 (Shockingly the ref did NOT call a foul against Wilson at any point.) Jesus went on to become a D3 NCAA Champion and also a coach at UNCG where he coached my older brother. Ironically - he is revered for his time there and the wrestlers can’t say enough great things about his skills and mentorship 🤣😭

🚨FLASHBACK to when 2x NCAA Champion🥇David CARR (ISU) went through one of the toughest brackets of ALL TIME to put a cap on his legendary NCAA career ‼️🔥 In 2024 - Carr won his 2nd NCAA title, but it would be the toughest path by far. Carr took out NCAA AA Garvin, NCAA Champion🥇Hamiti, 2x NCAA Champion🥇/U23 World Champion🥇O’Toole - before winning in the finals against NCAA Champion🥇/U23 World Champion🥇Mitchell MESENBRINK (PSU) 🔥 Carr mostly dominated the action, but due to some egregious stall calls the match was very close. Ultimately Carr’s TOUGH first period ride earned him victory - getting the 9-8 win on riding time. (***this bracket also included NCAA Champion🥇Taylor, NCAA Finalist🥈Caliendo, and several other All Americans.)

🚨WTF😱😭🤬‼️ All time highway ROBBERY here at the 125kg WTT Finals! Isaac TRUMBLE (USA) gets the clear head pinch exposures and PIN - but the refs say it was a strangle move and eventually decide this sequence as 2-2 and continue the match. Fargo National Champion 🔥🙌🚨 Melvin put on a great performance throughout and took out #4 Rocco CASSIOPPI (IL) - a University of Wisconsin commit - by 7-4 decision. 😢 U20 World Champion🥇Marcus BLAZE (USA) defeats U23 World Champion🥇Jax FORREST (USA) 5-2 in match 3 to claim the 61kg World Team Spot for USA 🇺🇸 This is a very interesting result - as in the NCAA season, Jax won Gold 🥇 while Marcus had a disappointing finish at 4th. But it seems Blaze’s style is much more freestyle savvy, and he’ll be a major contender to medal at the World Championships.
