African lives appear to receive less protection, less attention, and less urgency from platforms that claim to enforce global community standards. This silence is not neutral. Allowing such messages to remain online contributes to normalization of violence and dehumanization. The United States understands that the DRC has not yet neutralised the FDLR threat; therefore, Rwanda has not been able to lift its security measures. This is simple logic: if the root cause of Rwanda’s security concerns remains unresolved, expecting Rwanda to withdraw its defensive posture without addressing that threat is unrealistic. In this context, the real spoiler should be identified by looking at the sequence of actions. The DRC’s failure to neutralise a threat perceived by Rwanda as a security risk is what continues to trigger Rwanda’s response, including maintaining its defence measures. If the objective is truly to hold spoilers of peace accountable, why sanction Rwanda for protecting itself instead of addressing the actions that created the security dilemma in the first place?
