Yes, this jersey sold on eBay for $800 last month. The seller had no clue what they were selling. Unbelievable.

Two weeks after buying a case for $68,000 at Goldin, a collector hits a $3 Million card in the case. 💰 The thing that struck me though is the excitement around LeBron James. LeBron’s connection to high end collectors is one of a kind and it will only strengthen as time passes.

A video posted by sneakernomicz on IG covering the Jordan 14’s stating: “2 Million Fake Shoes?” First off, MJ has one shoe and the Billionaire buyer of Tim Hallam’s collection has the other shoe. If that pair to be put together and come to market today? $25 Million+ The conversations lead to education. All great things. Photomatching is what has taken game worn to another level. It comes at the expense of collectors like PerfectPair.

The mini movies have always been one of my favorite parts of the NBA Finals. The 2010 Finals mini movies were always my favorite. It has been rebranded as Chasing History. Not exactly the same. Here is part of the magical Game 4. A perfect story all captured in depth. 👏

Sotheby’s and the NBA have to deal with the blowback from the “player advocate” crew who are up in arms that the players can’t keep certain items, but the reality is these players are given the platform by the NBA that make these items valuable. This may be why you saw inaccurate messaging from Sotheby’s in the New York Post - almost like a cover up from negative press. The media and the stage is what makes game worn items have value. That is an NBA value add. If the players were playing at the local YMCA, the items would have no value. So there is nothing to be afraid of. The collectible market grew. If the players want to buy their game worn Finals items they are able to just like they can buy their trading cards. They will just have to compete with the collectible community. Capitalism. The NBA is a Masterclass.

This was the best interview on Sports Collectibles that I have seen yet. 🎯 Sorkin asks Ken what he ascribes the “hockey stick” growth of the collectibles market and what has recently changed: “There is a lot more people that are seriously involved. There are alot less people looking to get in to make a quick buck, and the best of the best is constantly going up - and the stuff that is not that rare is very very slowly increasing.”
