Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps 🇨🇦 are supercharged from their off season choreography with Lori Nichol. At Skate Canada / Patinage Canada High Performance Camp, the 2024 world champions 🥇revealed their Olympic season SP music: Carl Orff’s powerful Carmina Burana. Deanna: “Maxim is the god of fate and he's awakening me. And, I'm the goddess of fortune and we live life's experiences intensely together. But, Carmina Burana has many different layers of stories behind it and so I'm sure the story will evolve as we continue to skate it this season.” The team’s free skate is Spanish themed and features the music of Vincente Amigo. Deanna: “There's a lot of power and passion in the program but the constant is love and love is guiding each step of the program. We're really excited about these two programs. We have been working really hard to perform them properly because they are two magical masterpieces. We want to do them the justice that they are deserved and skate them the way they're supposed to be skated.” In their off season, the team immediately and methodically went to work to improve their elements following last season’s struggles capped by a fifth place finish at worlds. Deanna prepared a spreadsheet comparing scores of each of their elements to their competitors to identify training priorities. 🤓 Deanna: “In our pair spin, for instance, we were in a four-way tie for third. And I'm not sure if you've noticed, but I'm not really a four-way tie for a third kind of gal. So I was like, ‘How can we change that and make that better?’ And it's been full focus, like pedal to the metal, full speed ahead, ever since the second we got home, because we were not happy.” 😠
