Over on Instagram I asked Butch Harmon if he has much video of his father’s swing. His father being the teaching legend Claude Harmon Sr. who won The Masters in 1948. Butch said he doesn’t have any. The ladies majors have arrived this week with The Chevron Championship being played at Memorial Park in Houston, Texas. Here is some beautiful footage of arguably the greatest lady golfer of all time, Mickey Wright. Analysis by mini Hale Irwin. Mickey won 13 majors and 82 LPGA events in a relatively short career given she effectively retired at just 34. The same age as Byron Nelson when he retired. Both Byron and Ben Hogan said Mickey Wright had the best swing they had ever seen both men and women. When Ben Hogan said this to writer/journalist/historian Rhonda Glenn he slammed his hands on the desk in front of him to drive home his feeling on the matter. As Nick Seitz once said, no key on the typewriter can adequately convey when Ben Hogan wanted to really make a point.
