This player took PTO to play the LPGA in Mexico and cashed a paycheck It's not often that a player has to take PTO to compete on the LPGA. Alana Uriell came into the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba in Mexico fully expecting to be by the pool on the weekend enjoying a margarita. Instead, she found herself with a weekend tee time. "I have a golf team with Visa that I play golf with regularly," said Uriell, "and I think they're at home right now cheering me on and saying, man, I played golf with her last week. Michelle Wie West on the 'nervy' 82 she shot in her first LPGA start in three years: "It was funny, I wasn't nervous going in, and I get to the first tee and I'm like holy s-h-i-t. It wasn’t just that Asterisk Talley spoke with the press yesterday after a devastating collapse on Amen Corner. Though that in itself was a feat. Talley, 17, answered many of the questions that came her way on the podium through tears. She was thorough, thoughtful and gracious. Not once did she try to cut the interview short, answering more than a dozen questions until there were no more. Sometimes, the most compelling story is that of the brokenhearted. It’s when we learn the most about a person. On Saturday at Augusta, a junior player who has already experienced tough losses endured her toughest yet, and she handled it with class. The LPGA’s No. 1 player was asked about burnout and her answer was fantastic. “You know, sometimes you get lazy. You get burnout of hitting balls. When you guys have been in the office for a long time, I'm pretty sure you get burned out sometimes. But life goes on. Still have work to do. If not, we got no moneeeey.” (Keep in mind that Jeeno Thitikul, 22, has made over $17 million inside the ropes!)

Lydia Ko was NOT upset about just missing out on 59 but rather excited about shooting 60. Ko didn't actually start thinking about 59 until after she made birdie on her 15th hole (No. 6) to get to 10 under. The next hole, the par-5 seventh, she faced a 6-footer for birdie ... and missed. She'd go on to birdie the last two holes to shoot 12-under 60. "That would've been nice to hole that one, but who knows, maybe if I holed that one, I might not have holed the other two." The story of Brooke Henderson's rise to become the most decorated Canadian golfer of all-time can't be told without her big sister, Brittany. It was Brittany, after all, who received a sponsor exemption into the 2015 Cambia Portland Classic, which prompted Brooke to sign up for the Monday qualifier. Brooke not only made the field, but went on to win the tournament by a stunning eight shots, earning her LPGA card less than a month before her 18th birthday. (If Brooke hadn't qualified, she planned to caddie for Brittany.) For the next 13 LPGA wins, Brittany was on her bag, including two majors and three Olympic Games. Now, it's time for a well-deserved break. A former college golfer at Coastal Carolina who had a brief stint as a pro, Brittany began her maternity leave after last week's Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. The pair's last round together in frigid Orlando, Florida, was a doozie, with Henderson's 6-under 66 on a windswept Saturday moving her up to solo third.

Love this from Gaby Lopez on continuing Lorena Ochoa's tradition of thanking the staff at an event, going to the kitchen or the maintenance building. Asterisk Talley on the tears that flowed after a brutal finish at Augusta. “I'm just a little emotional. Not only because I didn't get it done today, but also just everyone is so supportive. It's hard when they have to watch that and see you not do well or not accomplish what you wanted. I still played fine today, even though that one hole just kind of got me.”
