Tonight, I announced I'm creating the Governor's Space Council. We're bringing together leaders in the space industry to identify barriers and opportunities for growth, assess our infrastructure, and provide recommendations to strengthen Washington's position as a leader in the space industry. We have deep roots in the space innovation, and we're focused on the future.

BREAKING: I support a Millionaires’ Tax on income over $1 million a year. The fairness of our tax system ranks 50th. Let’s make this historic change this session. This is a separate proposal from the budget I announced today — revenue would not be realized until 2029.

Tomorrow, 14,000 lawful immigrants were set to lose their Apple Health as a direct result of the President’s Big Bad Betrayal Bill. My team was able to preserve coverage for 3,000 of these vulnerable Washingtonians. While this brings the number down, no one should be denied access to critical health coverage. My administration is doing everything we can to keep health coverage for as many people as possible. If you have Apple Health: • Make sure all your information is current • Look out for communications, including mail, from Apple Health • Help spread the word with friends, family and co-workers and help them verify their information Visit for more information.

Breaking ground today on a transformational project at Mount Baker — more than 400 units of housing and a new early learning center, right next to the light rail station. We need more housing in Washington state, and we're excited to be a partner in making it happen.

Central and Eastern Washington experienced some of the most destructive fires we've ever seen in Washington state history. Today, I sent this video to the Trump Administration. We're asking them to grant a Major Disaster Declaration to help these communities recover.

I’ve said that any Millionaires' Tax I sign must send a significant percentage of that revenue back to Washingtonians. The Senate came out with a good start. Here's my proposal for cutting taxes on small businesses, getting money to working families, and reducing sales tax.

Playing professional chess is not the usual path to becoming Governor – but it taught me many life lessons including learning from your losses, how to take calculated risks, and the importance of always having a plan. Thank you to the Washington Chess Federation and the Eastside Oly Chessclub for hosting me at the inaugural Governor’s Cup Chess Tournament. It was great to meet the next generation of Washington chess players and I hope this tradition continues for years to come.

I find it deeply un-American that individuals in unmarked cars get out in masks and pluck people off the streets. When I reflect on the hundreds of bills this session, I am especially grateful that Sen. Valdez's bill to bar law enforcement from wearing masks reached my desk.

We have educators who are talented and driven to educate the next generation. Phones get in the way of their work, taking away an average total of 41 days of learning every school year. My Phone-Free Schools Act will ensure phones are away for the day, across our state.

Because of the long delay between passing the Big Bad Betrayal Bill and many of its elements going into effect, too many people are unaware of what is coming. If you have Apple Health, I urge you to make sure your information is current. Please help your loved ones do the same and spread the word.
