A message to residents of City of Jacksonville regarding property taxes. Government should never grow faster than inflation + population. Under Lenny Curry the budget was UNDER the benchmark by $38.5M (last 3 years) showing fiscal restraint. Under Donna Deegan the budget was OVER the benchmark by a whopping $623M (last 3 years) showing zero fiscal restraint. Please, don’t tell me keeping government growth under inflation and population is impossible.

In 1986, Congress passed the “Immigration Control and Reform Act”. It was a promise of amnesty in exchange for enforcement. The Reagan Administration then realized it was scammed when no enforcement came and illegal immigration went UP. Let’s not be scammed again with another amnesty.

When I say I’m serious about cracking down on fraudsters, I mean it. Last month, my office brought action against 60 people for public assistance fraud. We arrested 12 people and administratively sanctioned another 48 for scamming the system out of more than $800K. Mess with Florida taxpayer dollars…pay the consequences.

Local governments CAN cut property taxes AND fully fund fire departments and law enforcement. If they say they can’t, they’re lying. I will not stand for career politicians demonizing our first responders so they can keep their wasteful spending.
