🏛🎭 The fabulous Roman theatre of Aspendos, Antalya province, Türkiye, is one of the best preserved theatres of the Classical world. It was built during the reign of the emperor Marcus Aurelius (161-180 CE). If you ever visit Aspendos, please don't forget to visit the other ruins at the site too. These include a stadium, Basilica and acqueduct. Good walking shoes are required! 😊 Video filmed last year.

🏛 The ancient theatre at Termessos, Antalya Province, Türkiye. 🎭 The original Hellenistic theatre was built in the early 2nd century BCE. Renovations were made during the time of Augustus, (ca 62 BCE – 14 CE), with further modifications being made in the 2nd and 4th centuries CE. The capacity was about 4,800. The theatre was destroyed and the city of Termessos abandoned in the 5th century CE following a devastating earthquake. The site of Termessos has been surveyed but has never been excavated. 🎥 by me.
