I want to profusely thank all the lovers of Lagos, all of whom have refused to major on the minor. Thank you for the outpouring of love and support. Your encouragement gives me the energy, courage and faith to keep believing that, one day, our country will be great. As usual, the APC has resorted to its familiar strategy of distraction. Its loudest voices are not talking about the impact of their government on the people of Lagos. They are not telling Lagosians how they have made their lives better. They are not talking about the state of our roads, the worsening flooding, the housing crisis, the lack of reliable public water, the traffic crisis or the growing filth across our city. Instead, they want us to major on the minor. They did the same thing in 2023. And despite all their claims, they still resorted to thuggery, intimidation and violence to force their way into office. It was state-sanctioned terrorism using the same culture of thuggery that remains one of the biggest problems confronting ordinary Lagosians today. Why won’t the APC confront this problem? Because they depend on the same thugs and the same culture of political violence to force their way into power. When a political party knows that it cannot win the confidence of the people on the strength of its record, it becomes dependent on intimidation and coercion. Our roads are worse. Flooding has become a bigger problem. Rents have continued to rise, while affordable housing remains grossly inadequate. They have effectively given up on solving the traffic crisis. Now, instead of admitting failure and fixing the problem, they tell us that traffic is a “lifestyle.” There is no reliable supply of public water. And in many parts of Lagos, the city is as dirty as it was under Governor Tinubu. Under Governor Fashola, Lagos was operating more than 1,000 PSP trucks. After more than 12 years, you would expect the system to have expanded significantly. Instead, we are now down to roughly 200 trucks. Why? Because the problem is not simply a lack of trucks. It is a system that has been weakened by corruption, poor management and alleged racketeering around diesel, truck leasing and waste collection. That is why Lagos stinks. And this is the point I want Lagosians to focus on: we must stop allowing them to change the subject. The question is not who can shout the loudest. The question is, after all these years in power, have they made Lagos better for the ordinary Lagosian? That is the conversation we should be having. That is the conversation they want us to avoid. And that is exactly the conversation we must continue to have. Let's make Eko Great Again

Today, we remember the lives lost on 20 October 2020. We mourn them and stand with the families whose lives were forever changed by the struggle against police brutality. Six years later, we must ask: what has truly changed? From the use of police to disrupt my declaration into the ADC to the poor welfare and housing conditions facing officers, we must confront a system that too often fails both citizens and those entrusted to protect them. Police officers deserve dignity and decent working conditions. Citizens deserve protection, accountability and freedom from intimidation. Neither should be sacrificed for political interests. We honour the #EndSARS victims by continuing to demand a Lagos and a Nigeria where institutions serve the people, and power is exercised with responsibility. May their sacrifice never be in vain.

Since the return to democracy in 1999, Lagos Island has been one of the strongest and most reliable base of the ruling party - from the AD to the AC and ACN, and now the APC. Yet, despite decades of support, our people continue to be deprived of basic public services like potable water, effective sanitation and waste management, affordable housing, and meaningful job opportunities for young people. But this time, I have been greatly inspired by the courage of young people who are determined to chart a different course. They want a government that does not take their support for granted, but one that is accountable, delivers essential public services, and invests massively in human capital development. My administration will restore the pride of Lagos Island and bring back its glory days. Our people deserve nothing less. #OurLagos

Typical. So typical of the APC. Once they lose the argument, they retreat into hate mongering, ethnic slurs, and divisive rhetoric. The names are Gbadebo, Chinedu, Patrick RHODES-VIVOUR, Take your pick of any of the three and let's focus on the work you were entrusted to do. Wahab, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but not only have you been the worst Commissioner for Environment this state has seen, you have also been one of the most irresponsible, unbecoming occupants of public office. Unlike some, i have only one passport and have sworn no allegiance to any other state. Nigeria is all I have. A war with a people who appear to be uniting around a common interest, seeking economic freedom and a departure from over bearing western influence will have very dire consequences for our image as a regional power and could pose much graver security threats. Their alliance in the footprint of the ancient songhai empire is not by accident, their fight is also ideological with the memory of Thomas Sankara being evoked. For several years in recent times, we have seen both political and military leaders send patriotic soldiers to war illequiped and with very little remuneration while they reward themselves with vanities. We are still grappling with major insecurity as a result of the destabilization of Libya by France and its Allies, and because Africa did not present a United front, west africa is paying the price for that destabilization. Forget the fact that we have serious internal security challenges that is stretching our military, or the fact that our economy is in a parlous state, how does it make sense that Nigeria wants to lead an effort to spill the blood of people who are seeking emancipation? We must focus on a diplomatic solution. Nigeria cannot afford to be enmeshed in a war and we must stand against international destabilization of the region, if we don't, it will be a mess we will eventually clean up and pay dearly for, ask Libya.

Driving through the stench of filth today, I am reminded of how prolonged incompetence can become so normalised that cleanliness begins to look like an exception. Public sanitation is the bare minimum of modern governance. And a government that cannot deliver even this most fundamental duty has no business asking citizens for their vote. Lagos deserves better. #ourlagos #voteadc

Violence is the last refuge of incompetence. The Department of State Services (DSS) is no doubt aware of the NURTW’s directives to its members, urging them to Attack, hurt, maim, disrupt, intimidate, and harm opposition gatherings in Lagos, As we saw happen at my declaration at Alimosho and now threats after our successful gathering at Ajeromi. The President and his Lagos APC allies have controlled Lagos state for over 24 years, yet they have no record to campaign on instead they mobilize people like this to stifle opposition, yet send their own children abroad to benefit from good governance. By labeling opposition voices as “enemies of the President” and threatening those who fail to carry out these acts, the intent is to stifle democracy through fear. Let it be known that we are not intimidated. We make this statement for the record and to emphatically state that no one has a monopoly on violence. When this movie starts you will quickly realise we are the many you are the few. Àwa náà ò kéré, awa gan ò dúró lásán. Ẹrù ìjà kò bá wá.

Dealing with flooding in Lagos requires a forward-thinking approach tied to public policy and town planning. We need to adopt sponge cities initiatives, proper waste management policy, and technology for early warnings, rapid response, and emergency protocols. #ourlagos

Lagos can afford to pay its civil service better. On my 1st day in office, I will issue an executive order for it to be looked into. Contract staff will be converted into permanent staff & they will get the benefits that come with it. We deserve better. Èkó E dìde!! ~ GRV.

Celebrated Xmas in my village, Enjoyed the beautiful parades of Campos, Lafiaji and Epetedo communities. It is a time of community and togetherness for all. It is also a testament to the strength, grace and resilience of its people. Merry Xmas from the centre of excellence.

Our city stinks because of corruption , Just like the Thug and agbero crisis, this APC government lacks the political will to do something about it because they are direct beneficiaries. We simply cannot solve our problems from the same mindset that created them. It is time to do things differently, they cannot achieve in the next four years what they have failed to achieve in over 20years. It is an abomination that an " experienced" sitting governor after over 20years is campaigning on " we will , we will ' ...We will not accept that. Lagos deserves better and you deserve so much more . A government that understands and puts you first, not one that is trigger happy, violent and without empathy . #Ourlagos

The reckless sandfilling of our waterbodies and wetlands is the prime reason for the flooding of Lagos. Not only will this development lead to massive flooding of the Lagos mainland LG, It is also displacing Indigenous communities that have existed here for over 200yrs.
