The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has issued a stern warning to auto dealer Sarkin Mota over a viral video in which he appeared to mock Nigerian civil servants. In the clip, Sarkin Mota asked the AI system in a Mercedes Benz 2023 C300 whether civil servants could afford the luxury car. The car responded, “No! Maybe in 2062,” prompting mixed reactions across social media. His follow-up message — urging Nigerians to “hustle very well” — only intensified the reactions. Reacting, NOA Director General Lanre Issa-Onilu said the remarks were insensitive, especially at a time when many Nigerians face economic hardship. He stressed that civil servants are the backbone of national development and deserve respect, not ridicule. The agency reminded content creators and business owners to be mindful of their messaging, warning that promoting materialism over the dignity of labour sends the wrong signal to a society already under immense social pressure. A heartbreaking road crash on Ikorodu Road, Lagos, has left an entire community in mourning. According to LASTMA, the accident happened near Obanikoro when a speeding red Tata commercial bus lost control, broke through the median, and crashed into an oncoming Volkswagen bus. The impact was fatal, claiming the lives of an adult woman and an 8-month-old baby. LASTMA officers, with help from members of the public, quickly carried out a rescue operation, saving 10 passengers, including both drivers, who sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital. The scene was secured, and the wrecked vehicles were removed to restore traffic flow.
