The goal isn’t comfort or aesthetics, it’s survivability and mission accomplishment…The aircraft (Bell UH-1 series) is rugged by design for exactly these austere, rapid operations. Different landing profiles exist for different threat levels and terrain: administrative landings for admin moves, tactical ones when you expect contact. Timing and coordination under pressure are exactly what they’re training and displaying.
