There are cases where it's happened though, like the main motif of Mirror Rim was one such section from Never Odd or Even, and CHAOS' dissonant main section was the only riff worth salvaging from an early attempt at a song for Gluttony, before I decided to go ambient with it.

Last one: While digging through the files here's one I completely forgot about: One of the failed attempts at the climax for Dancer in the Darkness became a section in Altars of Apostasy.

It's actually a very common occurrence for me, where a section doesn't fit either tonally or structurally, so I just move it to the end of the file in case I ever want to use it somewhere else, but usually I forget they exist. Here's two such riffs from ORDER's project file.

It's that time of the year again

Just watched Duel to the Death. It's a fucking movie.

If you work in any visual medium, you should at least skim through The Color of Pomegranates. Regardless of how you feel about its absolute devotion to just pure visual symbolism, I assure you you'll come away from it with some fresh insight on color, composition and/or imagery.

Up to 99 Piranesi. pieces now. This batch's are half an hour each, a bit more digestible in length but no less weird and abstract. I haven't had time to work on 100., so there will be a bonus series of smaller pieces between now and that. Triple digits late this year?

With another big update out of the way, I once again have some time for making more Piranesi. pieces. This batch includes the quite unexpected Metal Studies trilogy, as well as a new logo brought on by the new year.

11 Piranesi. pieces in 1 week has got to be my new record. Hopefully this will be enough to keep a few fans of weird, atmospheric and abstract music fed for a while again. We're approaching triple digits, which will call for something special, I think.

Happy Cirno day! Reposting a classic.

Despite being constantly busy with you-know-what, I still managed to find enough gaps of free time to carve up 10 more Piranesi. pieces. A fuzzy lo-fi trilogy, a Mario 64 soundfont black metal epic, some of the darkest soundscapes of the project so far and a noisey krautrock jam.

I love movies. The Big Heat (1988)

Finished watching Logistics, which is the world's longest movie at over 35 days in length. It was ok. Very interesting conceptually and surprisingly good background ambiance with occasional moments of incidental beauty, but most of the second half was very boring.

RIP Béla Tarr, director of one of my favorite movies ever, Sátántangó. One of the best to ever work in the Slow Cinema space, his molasses-like pacing paints a perfect portrait of aimlessness and hopelessness in a quiet and resigned way. A one-of-a-kind director.

Played some more demos, will mention a few shoutouts here. First and foremost, Divine Frequency. Absolute kino. Who knew that a GZDoom fusion of indepth RPG mechanics and survival horror would be a match made in heaven? Beautiful atmosphere and sound. Don't miss out on this one.

Fun fact: In 2017, before ULTRAKILL, I worked on a short horror game that mixed together PT and the Black Lodge from Twin Peaks with randomized "scares" (creeps? eeries?). I only worked on it for 2 days, but some files from it still live on in the ULTRAKILL project.

I love the feeling of sitting down to watch something on a whim and realizing just based on how juicy the filmmaking is that you're about to witness something great. (A Pure Formality, 1994)
