The latest X8.1 flare was eruptive you might have expected. It was a big filament (cool material) eruption. It was also seen as a coronal wave. We need to wait for more coronagraph data to say if/when the associated CME will arrive, but it will probably on Feb 4.

On 21 March 2025, major dimmings near disk center followed the M1.2 flare in AR 14028 in the southwest (lower right) quadrant. This may be an example of sympathetic eruption caused by (unseen) wave-like disturbances. I think the ETA of the CME will be late 23 Mar to 24 Mar.

CME Watch for the past 5.5 days, with LASCO C2 difference images side by side with GOES X-ray light curves. We see no clear Earth-directed CMEs, perhaps consistent with recent solar wind data at L1. CMEs not correlated with an X-ray event may be either far-side or stealthy CMEs.
