Don't pitch your (direct) competitor’s VC - They won’t invest in you (and if they do it’s a 🚩) - Your data will be shared. Maybe not right away, maybe not on purpose, but it'll happen The harder case is an adjacent company. Disqualifying their investors risks shrinking your potential pool of capital. Honestly it’s a calculated risk. 1) assume that all data you shared will be shared. Especially in an era of Granola assume everything you say will be recorded. 2) be honest. Ask an investor if they feel it’s competitive (you can do that!) and back off if the answer is yes. We built a tool to help flag competitive investors. Basically an end-to-end fundraising platform powered by data on 71k startups and 50k funds. If you want access just check ⤵️

We built Bloomberg for venture. (well honestly it’s ~1000x simpler. and it doesn't have messaging. Or a terminal. Or a special syntax. Ok, not exactly Bloomberg...) We call this baby the “Situation Room” - an autonomous dashboard that tracks venture activity specific to your startup, as well as competitors and public markets. It’s honestly pretty cool. Link 👇

This helps inform the current round valuation. Unless of course it is a super hot round. Then nothing matters. We build a tool to help founders get ahead and shape the public comp narrative, Public Comps, now in the Venture Codex. Link next.
