I appeal to external affairs minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to take up Sikh truck driver Harjinder Singh’s case with the United State’s govt to ensure his rights, including that to wear a ‘dastar’, are protected & he is not persecuted as a murderer. Harjinder committed a grave mistake which led to a fatal crash but he is not a murderer & should not not treated as such. Also more than 1.5 lakh Punjabi truck drivers in the US shud not be discriminated against due to Harjinder’s mistake & their livelihood shud not be snatched from them by denying them work visas & making it more difficult for them to drive trucks by bringing in new language proficiency rules.

Just received a report of an extremely disturbing incident in Ludhiana where a person was attacked with swords despite being accompanied by a security personnel. The manner in which such violent attacks are being conducted in broad day light in busy areas indicates a total collapse in the law and order situation in Punjab. CM Bhagwant Mann shud be wake up from his slumber and take corrective measures immediately.

The union govt’s decision to observe the martyrdom day of the Sahibzadas as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ since 2022 misrepresents Sikh ethos and tenets. I request Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and Home Minister Amit Shah ji to intervene in the matter as per the directive issued by the Supreme body of the Sikhs worldwide - Sri Akal Takht Sahib’s Jathedar to observe the day as ‘Sahibzade Shahadat Diwas’. I have been making this request since the last 3 years and appeal to GoI to make the change in keeping with the sentiments of the Sikh community. Taking this decision during the Shaheedi Pandarwarah will assuage the feelings of the community and would be most righteous.

I came amidst rain from Delhi to tie a Rakhri on the wrist of my brother - S Bikram S Majithia who is lodged in Nabha jail on false charges but was denied this right. I have been trying since the last 4 days to get permission to observe Raksha Bandhan with my brother but to no avail.
