🇯🇵 A quiet night + unnecessarily pretty vending machines. Just another night in Japan.

🇯🇵 Nagano Prefecture has some of the best nature in Japan. In the winter it's all covered in snow but in the summer it looks more like this.

🇯🇵 Kora Taisha in Fukuoka is probably my favorite shrine in Japan. No one knows when it was founded but its first mention is in 795 AD in an historical text. The view from the shrine is amazing.

🇯🇵 I never experienced Japan in the 1980s but I really wish I could have.

🇯🇵 Despite Tokyo being such a big city, Toyosu Park is often quite quiet if you go at the right time. It also has an amazing and beautiful view. (source: nachan_photrip)

🇯🇵 Dotonbori in Osaka looks rather stunning in the rain. I love this atmosphere.

⛩️ This is called "kagura" which is a sacred Shinto dance by miko (shrine maidens) from 1300 years ago. It's often performed at festivals to connect heaven &amp; earth.

🇯🇵 Shibuya in 2002 looks so similar yet so different from Shibuya today. It's hard to explain why.

🇯🇵 Hasedara is a temple located in Nara. This temple was originally completed around the year 686 AD. In the winter, it's especially beautiful when it snows.

🇯🇵 The best way to spend a rainy day in Japan. I can't imagine anything more peaceful than this.

🇯🇵 The Japanese suburbs during blue hour (6:30 PM – 7:15 PM) is really the best time. The atmosphere looks so ethereal and calming.

Lost In Translation (2003) was the first time I ever saw Japan through the eyes of a non-Japanese person. I love the shots of Shinjuku in this film. It's so dreamy.

🇯🇵 The Japanese countryside is the perfect place to relax. I love this type of view.

🇯🇵 Toyama looks so beautiful that it almost feels like something out of a movie. Thankfully, it's actually real. I can't wait to visit here again this summer.

🇯🇵 Some of the most stunning animation ever from Ghost In The Shell (1995). I can't believe how beautiful each frame looks.

🇯🇵🪷 Eihei-ji is often called Fukui's "Temple of Eternal Peace". It was founded in 1244 and is hidden in the mountains. A wonderful place to visit for anyone seeking calm.

🇯🇵 Many people think that the 90s had the best Japanese anime. Looking at something like 1995's Ghost In The Shell, I think they might be right.

🇯🇵 I love how the sky looks so purple in the Tokyo evening.

🇯🇵 A rainy day in Kyoto. Something about it is just so perfect.

🇯🇵 Last week was the 19th Nipponbashi Street Festival in Osaka. One parade featured maids from Nipponbashi's maid cafes. While most people know of the maid cafes in Akihabara, Osaka also has many of them in the Nipponbashi area.

🇯🇵 Japanese sportscaster and talent, Ami Inamura (稲村亜美), threw her fastest ball ever at 103 km/h. For a non-professional player, she's quite impressive! I love it.

🇯🇵 Boku no Natsuyasumi (僕の夏休み) is a 2000 PS1 game where you spend the summer as a city kid in the Japanese countryside. For us Japanese it's pure nostalgia. I especially love those peaceful nighttime shots with fireflies &amp; village lights.

🇯🇵 Tokyo from the mid 80s almost looks a dream but this is actually real. It's not AI but instead from Wim Wenders' "Tokyo-Ga" from 1985.

🇯🇵 Japan in 1969 looked really remarkable. I love the classic cars and the beautiful, bright colors from that era.

🇯🇵 It's great to see young people in Japan trying to recreate the sounds of the 1980s. This song takes me back to a time before I was even alive.

🇯🇵 Fun fact: this song actually isn't that well known in Japan but for whatever reason got super popular abroad. Because of that, you can sometimes hear it playing at some shops.

🇯🇵 Wasabi is a French film that came out in 2001 which takes place in Japan. Some of the fashion styles and colors are so iconic of the Y2K era.

🇯🇵 There was a 100-person maid parade in Naniwa, Osaka last year! I love seeing all of the different concepts. Personally, I like the darker/gothic costumes. Some users also asked me what these ladies do. They serve drinks, play games and take pictures. It's very wholesome.

🇯🇵 Tokyo in 1990 was a completely different world. It's interesting to see what it looked like only a year after the end of the Showa era and the start of Heisei.

🇯🇵 Nightlife in Japan in the 1980s looked like it was so much fun. It was a much simpler time compared to now.

🇯🇵 A late night drive through Tokyo's neon streets while listening to a sad 80s Japanese city pop ballad. I love this type of bittersweet melancholy after midnight.

🇯🇵 A video from Tokyo in 2002 shows some really interesting fashion styles which were popular during that time.

🇯🇵 Nagase Beach in Etajima, Hiroshima. During the spring, if there are high tides, the path under the sea is submerged and it looks incredibly beautiful. (source: japan_walker_)
