Five years ago today, Chris Bosh went into the Hall of Fame and gave Pat Riley his ring back. “When I met Pat during free agency in 2010, he pulled out every trick. As I was starting to stand up to leave, he pulled out one last trick. He took out this velvet bag full of championship rings and dumped them all across the table. He picked one up, looked me dead in my eye and said, ‘You give it back to me when we win one together.’ We did win a ring together. Two of them. I never gave back the one he loaned me because I wanted to wait for the right moment.I figured this would be a good moment.”

Brian Windhorst shares the story of Erik Spoelstra bringing cookies to LeBron James after his arrival to Miami: “They didn't have anything really prepared. At least at that night. So Erik Spoelstra brought a plate of cookies. He didn't know what else to bring your superstar when you have like two hours' notice you're going to see him at the airport. Brian Windhorst tells a bizarre story about LeBron James gaining seven pounds after a playoff game: “One of the most fascinating stories of LeBron's career was that he gained like seven pounds during a game. Mike Miller told me LeBron used to weigh himself before and after every game in Miami. He weighed like 261 before the game and 268 after. I was like, 'That cannot be true.' So I asked Mike Mancias, 'Did LeBron really gain seven pounds during that game?' He said, 'Yes, it was a playoff game.' I still didn't believe it. Then I asked LeBron, and LeBron said, 'Yes.' Pat Riley said the sign-and-trade involving LeBron James and Chris Bosh came together at the last minute: “At the last minute, Leon Rose said, 'Pat, my guy's worth it.' I had to give up six draft picks—four first-round picks and a couple of swaps. I said to Leon Rose and the players, 'Do not come through that door when we're losing and you don't think you have enough.
