I can’t believe what I’m watching. I never believed I’d see such a protest in Cairo. The fact these people are risking their lives chanting what they’re chanting , fully knowing the regime can imprison them at any given moment is an act of extreme bravery.

I woke up. Checked my phone. This is the first video I saw. My heart dropped. She looks like my son when he’s sleeping. I forgot for a second he slept over at his grandparents house and wasn’t next to me like usual and I couldn’t stop crying. They took an angel from this world.

This video was taken in September 2023: the last first day of school in Gaza. I wonder how many of them are now dead. How many of them lost limbs and are unable to learn even if they wanted to. I wonder how many dreams were crushed and how many futures obliterated. A right of a child to education annihilated and instead they have to spend their days salvaging food, and finding things to sell to survive. Oh children of Gaza how we betrayed you.

Two days ago, at the Technical University of Munich, students announced they wanted to enter a dialogue with administrators. Some faculty even confirmed their attendance. Then, once they were in the room the admin quite literally called the cops on them and they were held hostage inside the university for 3 hours, and at no point were allowed to leave contrary to the university's statements. A 24 hour ban was also issued on everyone present. This wasn't a protest, nor an occupation, nor an interruption. It was an invite to conversation and TU München responded absolutely unconstitutionally. Contact the university presidential office here: praesident@tum.de claudia.hoefer@tum.de
