This morning, neighbours showed up and accused the owners - a family who live in the hotel - of inviting this destruction by welcoming in displaced Shia. They insist they only housed families, no individual men, and refute the notion that the targeted strike, which destroyed just one floor of the hotel, could have been aimed at a Hezbollah member.

Overnight update from Lebanon: Blood in the sand in what seems to be another Israeli assassination strike, this time on beachfront Ramlet al Baida. Witnesses - displaced families sleeping in tents - told us this was a double tap. After the first strike, they were among those injured when they gathered and the second projectile came rocketing in. Ministry of health has now confirmed 8 people killed and 31 injured. Heavy air strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, which kicked off with four simultaneous explosions not long after Hezbollah fired dozens of rockets into Israel in what it has announced as a new phase of operations. War planes and drones flying low and loud over the city almost all night. Multiple air strikes on the village of Aramoun, which have killed 3 and injured a child. And the continuation of the Israeli air and ground campaign in the south.
