Director's commentary bit - After Rocky recovers from his injuries: "As Rocky returns to the movie, the lights turn on. The warmth returns. It's like the day breaking." THE WARMTH RETURNS IT'S LIKE THE DAY BREAKING FOR GRACE 😭 2. Rocky leaning in as HARD into the hug as possible because he gets it now, he's missed Grace too 3. Grace's world inside the Hail Mary looking dim and dull as he waited for his Rocky to heal and come back to him 4. the way the music changes into a more hopeful and sweet sound when Rocky starts to make his way to Grace and goes "Grace?" 5. they packed this movie with so many loving little details, man #projecthailmary 1. Grace sleeping right next to where Rocky's sleeping/healing, just resting against the xenonite tunnel AND moving his work closer to where Rocky's sleeping (the grace go home hopeful musical motif playing throughout most of the scene really makes it perfect) 2. the little timelapse near the end showing how Grace kept a CONSTANT watch over Rocky (so Rocky will feel safe & comfortable while healing) 3. Grace sobbing when he found out proof for Rocky's theory "LIFE IS REASON!" because that means the Time Go Fishing fiasco was worth it (also he needs his Rocky back) 4. Grace going through Rocky's things and holding & looking at the xenonite Grace figurine with tears in his eyes 😭 5. Grace's imaginary fight with Rocky over the name "taumoeba" 6. the scene where Grace finds proof that life from Tau Ceti can consume/kill astrophage is so incredibly well done #projecthailmary - 1. Grace brought his work closer to Rocky so he could keep a watch on Rocky as he sleeps (like Rocky would want) 2. Grace's RELIEF upon finding out that taumoeba can indeed kill Astrophage 3. the way Grace LOOKS at where Rocky sleeping while crying because they did it! they can save earth and erid now! but he wishes he could share this very important discovery with his best friend 4. Grace sobbing and kind of holding himself up because he's not sure whether Rocky will actually wake up but he needs Rocky to come back to him 5. All the gracerocky hugs in one video so I can rave about the details of each one #projecthailmary 1. The same musical motif for every hug only the last one is pure joy & relief because REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOD 🎶 2. Hug 1: Grace needing a hug the first time because he was sure he will die on the mission when Rocky offered to go home 6 years slower so GRACE GO HOME, Rocky going "whoa whoa whoa what's this?" & "How do you know when the hug is done?" because he wants to FIX so he's feeling a little impatient but he loves Grace already and Grace seems to need this so ❤️ 3. Hug 2: they're both relieved that the other is okay and Rocky leans in AS HARD AS GRACE into the hug because they both need the closeness 4. Hug 3: Rocky was so relieved to see Grace came back for him & Grace was so relieved to make it back to Rocky in time to save him. They're practically trying to merge into a single being, needing the touch (through the xenonite glass barrier) so they can both reassure each other.
