MP for Faversham and Mid Kent. Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.

Scrapping the Triple Lock won't get Burnham the billions he needs to fund free social care. He should be looking at working-age welfare. Getting those who can work, to work. Not going after pensionsers.

If you apply for the Winter Fuel Payment this week you probably won't hear back until March. What good is that for a pensioner deciding whether they can heat their home this Christmas? Labour's winter fuel cut is as incompetent as it is cruel.

We know Labour MPs only want to tax more people to pay for more benefits. Starmer couldn't control them and in the end they kicked him out. What will Burnham do differently?

Want to know why your taxes are going up? Labour MPs see your money as theirs to spend… …on more benefits, funded by more taxes.

Polygamy is illegal in the UK. Yet our welfare system pays out benefits to multiple spouses. Conservatives Richard Holden MP helped introduce legislation to stop this today.

1,000 new PIP claims EVERY SINGLE DAY. It’s unaffordable. Unfair to taxpayers. And just morally wrong. Everyone can see that - EXCEPT Labour MPs who just want to TAX people more to SPEND more on benefits.

Britain's benefits culture has to change. If you can work but choose not to, taxpayers shouldn’t have to pay for your lifestyle. New Conservatives welfare policy will stop that.

Polygamy is illegal in the UK. But if you’ve married 4 wives overseas and moved here, you could claim up to £78,000 in benefits. Paid for by British taxpayers. That is absurd. Conservatives will end this.

Millions are living on benefits instead of paying their own way. And taxpayers are tired of footing the bill. Conservatives will bring back common sense 👇

Free cars for ADHD is not what our welfare system was designed for. Nor can we afford it. Conservatives will reform Motability so that it's there for the seriously disabled. And we'll invest the savings so that we reach 3% of GDP on Defence.

Over SIX million people are on out of work benefits. It MORALLY WRONG to accept that and do NOTHING. Conservatives will restore FAIRNESS to our welfare system, recognise CONTRIBUTION and make sure WORK always PAYS better than BENEFITS.

The Welfare Party would rather take money from pensioners than the millions of working-age people sat at home on benefits. Forget looking out for taxpayers or the pensioners who've paid in. For them, Benefits Street always comes first.

Welfare reform is about more than saving money. A life in work > a life on benefits. Writing people off onto sickness benefits is the wrong answer to the mental health problems of our time. #bbcqt

Surprise surprise, Labour showed their true colours again. There were no welfare savings in the #Budget. Worse, they're trailing MORE SPENDING to deliver some fantasy savings. Reforming welfare takes grit. They have none.

Millions of people on benefits is unaffordable and a sign that our culture has changed. More people looking to the state to fix things no matter what. Fewer people standing on their own two feet. Britain cannot be a force in the world with a culture like this.

Taxpayers are funding Motability cars for people on benefits which they can't even afford themselves. In the past, being in the ECHR stopped us fixing this. Under Kemi Badenoch Conservatives would leave the ECHR and get a grip of Motability.

You don't get a pay rise when you have a child. You make your money go further. But from this month, your taxes are funding households on benefits an extra £3,560 per child with no limit. Labour scrapped the 2-child benefit cap & put up benefits. People are asking - why work?

As Mayor, Burnham spent £700k on getting asylum seekers in Manchester benefits. If people know they can stay & claim benefits, they’ll keep coming. Brits are tired of being taxed for endless benefits. Conservatives would stop benefits for foreign nationals and save £7bn.

Labour are watering down benefit checks. £ millions more will go out in benefits, paid for by taxpayers. People getting PIP for things like anxiety, alcoholism, acne...could get payouts for years with no re-assessments. Labour doesn't care. Conservatives are fighting to stop this.

204 Labour MPs have more PIP claimants in their constituencies than their majority. Even the Welfare Secretary himself. No wonder they won't touch the welfare bill. They're putting Benefits Street before hardworking taxpayers to save their seats at the next election. TaxPayers' Alliance 🎯

Alarm clock Britain is sick of paying out for Benefits Street. Why bother working when you can get £30,000 or even £60,000 on benefits - untaxed. So what's the Government doing about it? Nothing.

Ten million people on benefits isn’t fair and it isn’t affordable. Today I set out my common sense plan.

Last year I found Kemi Badenoch £23 billion of welfare savings. Now, it's £36 billion. So we can cut taxes, bring down the deficit and invest 3% of GDP in Defence.

You don’t get a pay rise from your employer when you have another child. But Labour MPs think people on benefits should get ££££ from taxpayers for every child they have. Hear them cheer at spending billions more on benefits when it’s unfair & the country can’t afford it.
