South Carolina's prosperity depends on investing in our teachers. Over the past 8 years, we have raised starting teacher pay by 56%. This year, I'll work with the General Assembly to raise the minimum starting salary to $50,000 - a year ahead of my 2026 goal.

In 2022, I signed into law the largest income tax cut in state history. As a result, South Carolina taxpayers have kept an additional $1.275 billion of their hard-earned money. This year, I have again proposed cutting the personal income tax rate as much as we can, and as fast as we can. If the General Assembly can find a way to eliminate it altogether, I will sign it the second it arrives on my desk.
