Yoruba man reveals Ojukwu's warning to Ndi'igbo before his death. In the early 2000s, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu was invited to commission the Lagos International Trade Fair complex built by Igbo traders. He reportedly criticized their heavy investment in Lagos instead of developing their homeland cities like Onitsha, Nnewi, and Enugu, and others. The incident is often used to support the idea of “Aku Ruo Uno,” which encourages investing at home to strengthen the economy, create jobs, and ensure long-term security. It is also linked to lessons from the Biafra war, when many Igbos lost properties and investments outside their homeland. Some believe that despite those past experiences, similar patterns of investment are still being repeated today.
