Tonight I walked into a "gun-free zone" in Coeur d'Alene and nobody checked a thing. Music at McEuen: a free concert, a public park, open to everyone. No ticket, no screening. Just an orange snow fence and a "No Weapons" sign. I walked right past it, and so could anyone. And every Idahoan should be angry about it. This is public ground. You paid for that park. Someone hung a sign and pretended they could strip you of a right the Idaho Constitution guarantees, on land you own. A sign is not security. It stops zero dangerous people. The only ones it disarms are the law-abiding who obey it. I wrote the 2024 law protecting carry on public property. An amendment added a loophole, an undefined "restricted access" exception, and that is what is being abused here. I am running a bill to close it. Strike the loophole, and end this charade. Your rights do not vanish behind an orange fence. Watch.
