there's some sort of bitter and beautiful irony that days before the country's 250th anniversary, the 14th amendment and the spawn of foreigners would be placed atop all other possible considerations. those capable of carrying on for another 250 years have been rendered perfectly equal, maybe less, to any of the random 8 billion creatures that manage to wash-up here, crawl under a fence, or board a 747 for a few hours. the country is already unrecognizable from 30 years ago. another 30 years is difficult to fully appreciate. this ruling was naturally expected -- doomed by decisions made many years ago. if there is a sliver of hope to be found here, it's that all notions of justice, reasoned debate, morality, and fair play will be abandoned in favor of solving what amounts to be a mere issue of logistics. there are always solutions -- if we can put footprints on the moon and submarines on the ocean floor, we can put foreigners back into foreign countries. and for what it's worth, we get to live through history. after all, would you want your brief time here to be filled with decades of status quo and stagnation? try to enjoy the ride, at least a bit.
