Under the leadership of Secretary Kennedy, HHS will always stand in support of children and families. Today, Alex J. Adams and Stephanie Haridopolos, M.D., DABFM announced that expectant parents are now eligible to receive federally-funded services that teach parenting skills, strengthen mental health, and address substance use disorder in hopes of preventing unnecessary entry into foster care. These prevention services are now available for moms and dads whose baby is determined to be a "candidate for foster care." Providing support to a struggling parent before a baby is born strengthens families and reduces the risk of a child welfare involvement in the future.

Recovery is possible and millions of Americans are living proof. This Recovery Month, HHS and Great American Recovery are launching #RecoveryIsPossible, a campaign to share the stories of people rebuilding their lives through recovery and help replace shame with hope. White House Senior Advisor for Addiction Recovery Kathryn Burgum knows the power of recovery firsthand. After struggling with addiction for 20 years, she is now in her 24th year of recovery. Her story is one of millions, and every story has the power to show someone else what’s possible. Addiction is a chronic, treatable disease. Treatment works. Whether you’re in recovery or love someone who is, join us. Share your story using #RecoveryIsPossible and help show America what recovery looks like.

More than 1 in 3 women and more than 1 in 6 men experience sexual or physical violence by an intimate partner during their lifetimes. This is why, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, HHS is working across teams to invest in proven resources to prevent domestic violence and strengthen families. ACF has issued a call for new domestic violence prevention services and is awarding $237 million to local organizations that help prevent family violence, domestic violence, dating violence, and provide critical services to communities across the country. Meanwhile, the CDC is working to implement these evidence-based violence prevention strategies at both the state and local levels through their Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancements and Leadership Through Alliances (DELTA) program.
