a 5.7L LS1 in a miata sounds completely unreasonable until you see the numbers its crazy that the weight difference isn't nearly as dramatic as you'd expect. the stock 1.6L iron engine is listed at about 330 lbs, while this aluminum LS1 is around 380 lbs, so you're only adding roughly 50 lbs to the front that means the miata hasn't completely thrown away its famous balance either. the weight distribution is almost untouched, despite going from a tiny four cylinder to a 5.7L V8

beautiful machine, looks like an engineers wet dream the toyota gr gt3 is an fia gt3 race car built around a 4.0l twin turbo v8, with the engine mounted up front and power sent to the rear wheels toyota developed the car around three priorities: a low centre of gravity, low weight with high rigidity, and aerodynamic performance the structure is particularly interesting too. toyota used its first all aluminium body frame, while the engine was designed to be compact and light, with dry sump lubrication and a thinner oil pan helping keep the powertrain lower in the chassis and since this is still a development prototype, toyota hasn't published final performance figures yet
