In 2020, staff at the Belgian thrift store Opnieuw & Co uncovered a photo album containing more than 60 images of Hollywood stars, each posing with the same woman. The discovery quickly drew international attention. The woman was identified as Maria Snoeys-Lagler, a former member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The album had been found among donated items, its origins initially a mystery. Following Maria’s death in 2016, media coverage helped trace her family, and the album was ultimately returned to her daughter in California.

Marvin “Popcorn” Sutton was a legendary Appalachian moonshiner from Maggie Valley, North Carolina, known for producing what many considered exceptional moonshine. His trademark overalls, fedora, and long beard made him a recognizable folk figure. Sutton openly shared his methods in books and videos, even as his work remained illegal. In 2008, authorities arrested him and seized more than 1,700 gallons of moonshine. The following year, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison. This was what running through Golden Gate Park looked like at 99. In San Francisco in 1966, Larry Lewis ran six miles every morning, rain or shine, while the city was still asleep. Lewis later worked as a waiter at the St. Francis Hotel and remained active well past 100. On his 102nd birthday, he celebrated by running 100 yards in 17.3 seconds, faster than the year before. He joked that the improvement came from wearing proper running shoes instead of street shoes. Raised on a Navajo reservation in Arizona, Lewis left home at 15 to join the P. T. Barnum Circus as an acrobat and aerialist. He claimed to have worked for decades as Harry Houdini’s assistant and lived to the age of 106, passing away on February 1, 1974.
