I know AI sycophancy is about 17,000 discourse cycles ago on this site, but IMO the underlying dynamics (inc pressure to ship fast, not knowing how to balance user prefs w/ other things) are alive and well. Wasn't expecting to explain that to Oprah of all people, but here we are

Re "is AI slowing down" - For sure the edge has been taken off the AGI-by-2027 predictions... but claims that progress is stalling also seem pretty off to me. I continue to expect AI will get a lot better over the next 5-15 years, and that will be a wild ride. More:

Zhipu (apparently rebranded in English?) is not very widely known outside China, but they’re a company to watch. Here they’re showing off how their AutoGLM model can steer this robot to operate a (simple hold-cup-press-button) coffee machine. Not a very hard robotics task, but if the model didn’t need too much tuning for this use case then it’s neat. (The coffee was not good, but that’s not the robot’s fault.

But Unitree did have the demo that impressed me most at the expo—two humanoids boxing. I’m actually not sure how much of this was autonomous vs. remote operated, but at a minimum the balance/stabilization must be automatic, and that’s impressive. Not perfect though (see 0:50)

As someone who often wants to compare how different LLMs do at various tasks, I'm surprised I haven't seen more people hyping OpenRouter. Extremely easy to use, lets you pick whatever combination of models you want, charges per token, nice UX. Highly recommend.
