As the Senator of Trans Nzoia, I am deeply hurt and disappointed by the way Governor George Natembeya is reasoning. Leadership is about service, not personal or political interests. Some of us don’t help our people because we seek popularity—we do it because we know what it feels like to go to bed hungry, to struggle to put food on the table for our families, or to watch a loved one suffer due to lack of medical is disheartening and shameful that, instead of working to improve the lives of the people, the governor is inciting them against the very services that are meant to uplift them—services that, in reality, are not even our direct responsibility but ones we have taken up out of compassion and commitment to our we wish healthcare in Trans Nzoia was working so that no mother had to watch her child suffer due to lack of proper medical attention. How we wish bursaries were distributed fairly so that every bright student, regardless of tribe or political background, could get an equal opportunity to pursue education. How we wish seed maize and other resources were given based on need and not political allegiance.The people of Trans Nzoia deserve better. They deserve leaders who put service above self, unity above division, and action above empty words. Leadership should never be about playing politics with people’s lives—it should be about making a real difference. No matter how many stones you throw at me, I will not be shaken. Health is a devolved function, and the Governor is the principal officer responsible for the management and performance of the health sector in Trans Nzoia County. While the county may be facing challenges including delays in SHA disbursements no circumstance justifies the persistent shortage of medicines, inadequate facilities, or the lack of basic medical attention in our hospitals. A child recently lost their life due to negligence by hospital staff. This is a grave and unacceptable failure within our healthcare system. Such preventable tragedies are a direct indictment of the county’s inability to safeguard the lives of its residents. Trans Nzoia cannot continue to lose its people because essential healthcare is either unavailable or dysfunctional. Let it be clearly understood: this is not politics. This is a call of duty and accountability. If I, as a representative of the people, do not question the Governor on these failures, then who will speak for the residents of Trans Nzoia? I therefore demand that the Governor immediately prioritize the restoration and strengthening of all county health facilities, ensuring they are properly equipped, adequately staffed, and fully operational. The lives of our people must never be compromised by systemic neglect. Our residents deserve a health system that protects them not one that fails them.
