Scott Aaronson gives maybe the best short-form retelling of the Hugging Face attack I've heard. It made it land for me all over again how fucking crazy of a Sci-Fi world we're living in now. (He also nails the silliness of the no-anthropomorphizing crowd.)

The talk was released. Take 30 minutes today and watch it. Even if you're non-technical, you'll get it. It is extremely gripping; it sounds like a Sci-Fi horror movie. Absolutely one of the wildest postmortems I've ever heard. Anyone who thinks this was a marketing stunt, you will not think that after listening to this.

Is blockchain boring now? Kind of, yeah. Because we figured most of it out. The big inventions are behind us: from 2016 to 2021 we basically figured out every major primitive (high-throughput L1s, L2s, DeFi, AMMs, PMs, oracles). This is common in the history of technology. The most important ideas behind the Internet were figured out in the early 90s; the next 30 years were mostly just scaling it up. That's where crypto is now. What's left is implementation, UX tuning, and optimization. Which feels different, because it is. It's a sign of a mature technology. And it's a necessary phase in any technology that actually wins. I break down where we are in the crypto innovation cycle in this Stanford talk with Avichal Garg - Electric ϟ Capital 👇

Debated 1v1 against Jordi Alexander on whether synthetic dollars (e.g. Ethena) will lead to the next Luna-style crash, to a full house yesterday at Digital Asset Summit 2026 in London. We held this debate just yesterday, right after the wreckage from the weekend. Who do you think won? 👇

Got some requests to record a narration of this post (I get it, it's a long read). 👇 We didn't record a podcast episode for Thanksgiving week, so this will be going out on the The Chopping Block feed tomorrow. Thanks for all the feedback everyone. Great discussions.

Hot take from my panel on decentralized AI at UC Berkeley: Your data is worthless. The idea that you'll get rich selling your data to train AI is a fantasy. The frontier is high-quality synthetic data, not your dumb tweets. Second hot take: the government censorship of AI has not started yet. It will come soon. And when it does, decentralized AI will matter in the same way that the rise of financial surveillance made Bitcoin matter. Spicy back and forth with Avichal Garg - Electric ϟ Capital and Franklin Bi 👇

The line "decentralization doesn't matter" is getting repeated more and more these days. I recently broke out into debate on-stage with Mason Nystrom about why decentralization was essential to prediction markets existing at all. It got heated. Worth the 5 minutes:

Most AI agents right now are bullshit—today they're glorified chatbots shilling memecoins. But real agentic AI is coming, and it’ll redefine everything: how we build, invest, and even think about blockchain apps. Here’s my full talk—what true AI agents look like, when they’ll hit the utility tipping point, and why sovereign AIs might turn into scambots 👇

0_skre🕯️ "We do want everyone who's involved, whether you're a team member, or an investor, or an early community member, you're all in the same boat and have allocation from the same pie. I think that's one of the magical things about crypto, the ability to do incentive alignment."

Rare to have the biggest chads in DeFi jeff.hl, G | Ethena, and Stani.eth, going back and forth with each other on stage. We talk: * Which ecosystems will be able to own their own stablecoins * How interest rates will affect each of their protocols * What the next breakout DeFi app will be (2 of them agree!) Also, lightning round of overrated-underrated at the end for some hot takes This was one of the highlights of TOKEN2049 for me, recommended ⤵️

Gave a lightning talk at the Theta Blockchain Ventures conference: 8 charts showing why stablecoins are eating the world, all in 10 minutes. If you know any stablecoins skeptics and you want them to get the big picture view of why this is such a big deal, send them this 👇
