At 2:10am this morning, a group of hooded youths came past and threw a traffic cone at the tent of a man forced to sleep rough. This individual isnโ€™t sleeping in a tent by choice. He has nowhere else to go. Glasgow City Council Glasgow City Council had no emergency accommodation available, and our night shelter was already full. To deliberately target someone who is already at their lowest point is cruel, inhumane and completely unacceptable. No one should be treated this way simply because they are homeless. Homelessness is not a crime. Every person deserves safety, dignity and respect.

CEO & Founder Colin McInnes is calling for Cllr Ken Andrew to resign after he closed todayโ€™s planning meeting moments after voting to refuse planning permission for our night shelter and soup kitchen with the words: โ€œletโ€™s go get that lunch.โ€ To make such a remark on the second day of Poverty Week, when thousands in our city go hungry, is nothing short of contemptuous towards Glasgowโ€™s most vulnerable. Cllr Andrew should step down immediately. One canโ€™t help but wonder had he eaten before the meeting, would his decision have been the same?
