Lopez, the now suspended sheriff, was arrested June 5 following an investigation into a criminal organization operating an illegal gambling enterprise throughout Central Florida, which generated $21.6M+ in illicit proceeds. He is accused of having been involved in a gambling operation where illicit proceeds were being used as campaign contributions and personal payments.
