TV critic and broadcaster Scott Bryan joined BBC Breakfast this morning to speak about the autism representation in 'Heated Rivalry' ❤️ "Heated Rivalry, which is of course a word-of-mouth hit […] I think it’s a show that really resonated for a quite few reasons […] It depicted neurodivergence; many people picking up one of the characters in the drama, played by Shane, is autistic. I think it highlighted the traits that he was experiencing in a really grounded way, but also highlighted all of the other parts of his personality as well. His autism wasn’t the only thing we learnt about him. I think for myself, I found out I was autistic only a couple of years ago, and this was the first depiction of autism on TV that I saw to be really quite relatable and realistic, and I know for a lot of other people they found it to be the same way."
