Here in the south of Shetland today, the sun rose at 0907 and set at 1500 giving us 5 hours and 53 minutes of daylight. At the summer solstice we'll get nearly 19 hours of daylight. Having spent the last eight months or so out at sea, Puffins - known here as 'Tammie Norries' - will soon be returning to our Shetland shores. Over the next couple of weeks they'll re-establish pair bonds, inspect nesting burrows and guarantee lots of smiles from their admirers. They really are magical birds. Thirty seconds of another fabulous day with Orcas - this time with the '65s' pod up in the north Mainland of Shetland. Adult bull 'Busta' was with them - and as spectacular as ever. We first photographed and documented him in 2005 when he was a fully grown bull and we estimate him to be at least 40 years old. Always a privilege to see him. Wonderful to film these Harbour Porpoise (known here in Shetland as 'Neesicks') in glass-calm conditions off the east coast this week before #StormEowyn arrived.
