“6529 Memes” is the best curation I’ve ever made, and also the one I had most fun doing. There’s a beautiful story being told by the art along the exhibition — of seizing culture with our jpgs, of the importance of decentralization and freedom to transact, and thus conquering the future with the open metaverse and sovereign digital rights — in a way that is comprehensible by the new audiences but still leaves them a bit mindblown. The curatorial text guiding the visitors through the sections is inspiring and educational, and the mix of incredible visuals and sharp or dank crypto memes help audiences grasp the significance of this art movement. In total, there are 64 CC0 NFTs in exhibition, matched and sequentially distributed among the 27 displays: mostly The Memes by 6529, a few Meme Lab pieces, one 6529 Complaints card, and a special CasaNUA.6529 Meme Card submission, which I’ll talk about soon… We also exhibit a Bicasso oil painting brought from Italy by my own hands, and hand out mini NFT Adoption Pathway and Meme Enjoyoor cards for visitors to take home. A 6529 onboarding stall is being set up. And the screens displaying NFTs with audio sport individual headphones for visitor immersion. We’ll be showing a lot more over the course of the month!

Frens, “Saving Beauty” will be released on Fri, April 14th 2:30 PM with a special auction as my SuperRare genesis NFT, simultaneously with a live performance act at the Black Box NFT Art Fest during NFT NYC. Please read on for RSVP, drop details and my artist statement! Beauty today is a paradox. The cult of beauty is ubiquitous but it has lost its transcendence and become little more than an aspect of consumerism — the aesthetic dimension of capitalism. The sublime and unsettling aspects of beauty have given way to corporeal(?) pleasures, instant gratification and 'likes', resulting in a kind of 'pornography' of beauty. Here I trace a parallel to creation in the Information Age: we have imported to web3 dynamics the slavery of our own competition for attention in the World Wild Web. Artists creating to please. Impact over depth. Instinct over reflection. Wow over hmm. Sequential drops over paced, thoughtful creation. In this live performance art act, dropping simultaneously as my genesis NFT on SuperRare (the video here is a teaser for the full 3’40” piece), I aim to denounce this collective craving by laying bare over my own body the pointlessness of the quest for maximum performance, in a self-plea to make peace with destruction, failure and negativity, with the demons in our mirrors, towards thoughtful understanding of who we are and what our place is. These are aspects that must be embraced if humanity is to escape the stupor that comes as a side effect of the digital age and keep evolving with full consciousness of the directions we're taking.
